Has anyone else had trouble with lower back pain and pain in the pelvic area after being diagnosed with a DVT?
I have a vena carva filter to catch any new clots however this pain in my lower back / pelvic area is pretty intense. I have had it for a few days now and it seems to be getting worse by the day.
I am seeing my vascular surgeon tomorrow however was just curious if anyone else has experienced this before.

Hi , Do you know about May thurner Syndrome, which affects the vein in the groin area where the artery puts pressure on it? You can google it and it is well explained. It is possible you are experiencing pain from this. It is diagnosed by a scan. My son was found to have this after he had a post surgery DVT. He has now got 3 stents in his leg vein to open up the vein where he has poor blood flow, one of them in the groin because of the MTS. It may be not be this at all but worth asking your Consultant.

Thank you for your feedback. I have not heard about that and I will definitely ask my Dr about it. Any possible explanation is better than none at all at this stage.

Hi, I wish you well in your post DVT problems. We didn't know about MTS either until he was diagnosed when we were at Guy's & St Thomas Hospital London to see Vascular consultant, Mr stephen Black. My son developed Post Thrombotic Syndrome as his DVT was so massive and that is why he has had 3 stents.
He is doing well, he has exercised regularly as recommended and we are grateful that the treatment is available now. In the last 2 years, post DVT, he has suffered pain and swelling on a daily basis because of the PTS but it has improved over time and hopefully the stents will make a big difference. They are new having only been put in during December, so we wait and see.
I do hope you don't develop PTS, not everyone does. I hope you were recommended to exercise to improve circulation and to develop collaterals.

Update:
So I have been booked back into hospital. They have picked up in my white blood cell count that I have an infection and now they need to run a few more tests to figure out what the problem is.
It's obviously got to do with the intense pain in the pelvic area however I will know more in a day or two.
All I can say is thank goodness for morphine!!!
