hello, my first post so please bear with me! I've had a hiatus hernia for 7 years and recently I've had lower left abdominal discomfort for over 12 months now. It started after I'd eaten breakfast one morning. I got up to go to the kitchen and then I had the weirdest feeling in my left side. Just felt like something had "dropped" inside me, that's the only way I can describe it. This caused me to have what i think was a panic attack. I ended up having an endoscopy as I felt things weren't right with the hernia. That all came back fine, just some stomach inflammation, but the lower left abdominal discomfort has remained since. I've carried on with it but it's constantly there and annoying. The DR's changed me from Lansoprazole to Rabeprazole but that didn't make any difference. I then started having sharp chest pain occasionally. One's that stop you in your tracks. Not heart related so, again, I just carried on but just before Christmas the pains seemed to be more frequent. The Dr thinks it's GERD so I'm on Nizatidine now for a few weeks to hopefully, stop the pains. I've mentioned the lower left abdomen discomfort but it's never looked in to. Between the 2 things, I'm getting bit cheesed off! Lol Just hoping someone can throw some light on my discomfort. Cheers
ive had sharp chest pains that stop u in your tracks, literally. scared to move kind of sharpness, usually brief. it was probably an ulcer in my esophagus from the acid reflux or just the pain of acid reflux. PPI healed it up eventually. Just remember that PPI can cause other probkems if taken too long as Ive just realized. 2 months or 3 then taper down and off. I thought my stomach prob was getting worse at one point until i realized its probably the pills so I did an experiment and stopped them by reducing then substituting with h2blocker and slowly my stomach improved! I think the PPI masked my healing..anyway, feel better soon
hi, thanks for replying. Fingers crossed, seems to be the H2 blocker is working. It’s early days on it but there’s an improvement in the way things are feeling. Will see how things are in a couple of weeks. I’ve been on PPI’s since I was diagnosed with the hernia so I know there could be issues with long time usage. Will have a chat with my GP once I’ve completed the H2 program.
