Desconforto no lado inferior esquerdo

For the past 6 months now I been having this dull pain and discomfort on my lower left side where the abdomen meets the bladder or pelvic bone,.

Sometimes I get constipated, dark poop, sometimes blood comes out, but not always. A few times I had back pain with it, and a pain or cramp going down the groin when getting up, which I told the doctor.

I was really anxious this past few weeks that it went worse, more sore and intense. Due to health anxiety I tried ignorning it this past few months, but it didn't do much.

They did a urine test, it was normal.

He felt round the abdomen, see if there's anything there. Then booked me in for a blood test.

Blood test was all normal.

Ever since I went to see the doctor, the discomfort has gone away, it does come back when I think about it. Or if I haven't been to the toilet before bed. More milder than before, strangely sometimes it itchess, it's not as bad as it was

Because I suffer from anxiety I forgot to ask the doctor things, it's hard to fit all the symptoms.

It's hard to tell if this is all due to anxiety or psychomatic feeling or link to me feeling down sometimes.

I forgot to ask questions like is it natural to see brownish or reddish liquid? Especially after straining or pushing too hard? (It's hard to get it out sometimes)

And I have notice it smells sometimes like a dead animal.

Also there's sometimes a bit of mucus and blood, unless it's carrot which would be orange right? (sorry if that's a silly question)

If there was something like a tumor, cancer, celiacs, parasites or something serious it would show on the blood tests as abnormal right?

The doctor did say that if it comes as normal then it's most likely nothing to worry about especially that it's been for 6 months the same.

I have no trouble eating, sometimes I do get full easily.

I been taking some antiacids lately because I get acid reflux/indigestion, could there be a link?

The antiacid I take are the cheap 90p ones from Wilko here in UK, would it be best to take the more expensive ones rather than cheap?

And would it do any harm to try something like Buscapan?

It sounds like it could be IBS.  If you are straining for a bowel movement, it can cause fissures or haemorrhoids which can produce bright red blood.  IBS pain tends to focus on the lower left side but it also typically moves about your abdomen.  Try a stool softener and eat lots of fruit and vegetables to make stools easier to pass.  Drinking water often helps to put more fluid into your stools to reduce hardness.  You should tell your doctor about the blood too,  Does your pain temporarily improve after a bowel movement? This is also a classic sign of IBS.

When you get stressed, IBS tends to flare up and go away when you are calmer.  You can get constant pain too. Distraction techniques can help such as a hobby or light exercise such as swimming or walking.  My doctor diagnosed me confidently with IBS because my symptoms had not changed in three months, I had no new symptoms and all my tests were negative.

Acid reflux is linked to IBS   Celiac tends to show on blood tests or an endoscopy, parasites are often picked up on stool tests and tumours can show on ultrasounds, CTs and MRIs.  Colonoscopies pick up bowel tumours and polyps.

Since your doctor is not concerned, you should not worry either.  If there was any concern about a more serious bowel condition, you would have been sent for an urgent colonoscopy.   So far you haven’t, so this is good news for you.  Your doctor will probably do a fecal calprotectin stool test to check for bowel inflammation caused by IBD.

Buscopan is a mild antispasmodic which is an OTC medication which can help with IBS pain.  It works for me.  However, you are better to get a firm diagnosis of IBS first from your doctor if that's what you have.

Thanks for your tips and advicesmile

Yea it does improve a bit after bowel movement, the discomfort sometimes goes down to the leg which can feal annoying . I'll try looking into improving my diet, and drinking more fluid, see if it'll help.

Good luck!
