LS Wrinkled Labia

It’s me again, feeling crazy posting yet another discussion but i have a symptom i’m confused about. Aside from the burning, tearing, itchiness, and dryness, i seemed to have formed shiny, deep wrinkled patches on my labia majora. They are not white. but the wrinkles are very noticeable. I have ever had them before, only since these symptoms started 4 months ago. gyno still says she doesn’t suspect ls and it’s just dryness, yet non of her recommendations have helped me. ugh. are the shiny, wrinkled areas a symptom of LS?

Nicole, don't EVER feel guilty about posting!!!  My suggestion would be to go to a gyno that specializes in LS.  It's a condition that none of us have had before in our lives, so of course we're curious and scared about new symptoms! Regular gynos don't know enough about LS … at least that's been my experience.  I'm going to my THIRD gyno in November … and this one is an LS specialist.

Your friend,

Jackie

Who is your doctor? Is this a GP, a gyn or an LS specialist or a dermatologist? Has she ever seen LS??

I don't see a gyno. I see a female dermatologist who specializes in LS.  Whoever you decide to see, it should definitely be someone who specializes in this disease.

Gynocolgesist. she said it’s very unlikely i have Ls. Even tho i already have an autoimmune disease of my thyroid and have had terrible eczema my whole life. She said i would have white skin and i don’t have that

Sorry this is not going to be to much help but yes I have experienced this before. I believe I had a yeast infection on top of a LS flare. What I remember was the shiny skin was pretty raw feeling and easily irritated.

Try doing an image search of vaginal LS and see if any looks like what is happening to your body.

What has your gyn had you using for it that hasn't worked?

Is it possible to have eczema on the vulva?

How can you tell the difference between a yeast infection and an LS flare?? I wondered if that is what I have sometimes.  Also how do you dear ladies "look" to see the condition in your vagina?? My husband has to get a flashlight and look!! How do you manage that??

Iv'e just been to the gaenocologist after waiting 5 months to see him. He said its not LS just dryness, so on vagifem to see how I get on. Will keep you posted

jc,I thought I was the only one with observation issues! I do what I can, but it certainly can't compare to what the doc can see with bright lights.

I went to see a gyn because of a very fleeting infection. At first I thought it was yeast then decided it was probably BV because  symptoms changed. That's when I got the LS diagnosis. The gyn concluded the internal itch was due to the outside conditions (which made no sense to me), but she did PH tests and infection wasn't indicated. I started on the estradiol and steroid, but the infection symptoms persisted. I insisted on flagyl as it always worked when I was younger and had issues. The symptoms disappeared immediately, but came back. The doc attributes this to the lack of estrogen causing fluctuations in PH. So I'm continuing with the estradiol and hoping the situation resolves. If I start to feel an itch I rinse off with slightly salted water. It seems to be abating, but if it returns I will try another round of flagyl. Lots of experimenting. I sent away for an essential oil concoction, but that simply burned despite my trying to dilute it with coconut oil. I am open to hearing what any other women use that works for them.

I use vaginal suppositories and i got off the pill. (which she recommended) and i’m still having the issues.

I wish I knew, I think if I get extra itchy then it is yeast, however the medicine makes my skin condition worse. I think the next time i think I have a yeast infection I will get the pills vs. adding another medicine down there to the mix.

nicole, What you are referring to is LS.  I would find someone who knows what LS looks like, it will save you a LOT of stress, anxiety, pain and money in the long run.

I absolutely agree with Guppy! You need to see an LS specialist!!!

Classis LS symptoms! Get thee to another Doctor!

AMEN, Karen!!!!!!!!! Let's hope Nicole takes our advice.

Ladies, I’m intrigued. I have the wrinkles but no shiny patches. Are the wrinkles in themselves LS?

My next step is a biopsy. thank you all for your advice. I do believe i’m suffering from early LS.

Sorry to highjack your thread.  I am not receiving ANY new LS posts in my email account.  I am also not receiving any replies to threads that I have participated in.  Anyone know how to rectify this?  I thought I had fixed it, but no.

Might just be atrophy. What has your doctor said? My atrophy seemed to morph into LS at some point over a 3 year period. But I seem to have a mild case compared to what women report...at least so far. Am responding pretty well to the hormone cream and the steroid.

Are you using hormone cream, samantha?
