I had my right TKR 3 years ago. It wasn't a success so haven't been game to get left one done. But I've had massive aching behind the left knee and going all the way to my ankle. Had this for 4 weeks and no painkillers help. It just came on suddenly...no injuries or anything. Anyone had anything like this? It's worrying me sick, So painful I am in tears!! Help!!
You poor thing. Sounds like you should get it checked. Is it swollen?
Hi Fran. Yes it is swollen. But I have had swelling behind that knee for years. After consulting Dr Google…ha ha…it may be a Baker’s cyst. But I will definitely have to see the doctor. I just lost the plot a bit this morning because of the pain. Thank you for your response. ![]()
Of course! Baker cyst. I’ve had them before. Feels like a bag of water behind the knee sometimes. I bet that is what it is.
Yes Fran, after speaking to my sister who has had a Baker’s cyst…she agrees. It sounds very like it. I will see the doc this week. (Yes it does feel like a bag of water behind my knee!) Thanks for your support. ![]()
can you tell more about the failure? Sorry for your pain
JRS11…you mean the failure of my TKR? Well, I am one of the unlucky 20% of patients the surgery doesn’t work out for. I have more pain now than before surgery. It feels like the implant is way too big for me. It grates n crunches against my kneecap causing a lot of pain. The doc did offer to try and fix it but to be honest, I don’t want him to touch me again! But rest assured, for most people the surgery will work just fine.
there are revision specialists and I am sure you know that. Terrible to go thru a failure surgery. so sorry.
