question for those on antivirals:
I have been taking valtrex 500 mg 2x day for seven days. I have very dry itchy skin and symptoms of dehydration despite drinking lots of water. I have read these are both side effects of valtrex.
Anyone have these? Do they go away eventually, or am i stuck with them.
Im going to cut back to once a day starting tomorrow, but i really wanted to stay on suppressive therapy
I had the same problem at first as well. But it did stop eventually and I'm taking a pill of day. Only thing is I'm more tired than usual.
Thanks for your response NuMe
The only thing that qas giving me any hope at all was the knowledge i could suppressthe outbreaks.
I will cut back to one dose tomorrow and hang on for a bit longer
No problem. If the side effects are too much you can stop and see what happens. Good luck!
I didn't need any meds, and it was prescribed very late into my first outbreak, but I took 2 x 500mg of valacyclovir per day for 6 days, I believe, and noticed no side effects at all.
I haven't started any medications yet. This is my first outbreak however I was so miserable. Sick with the aches and pain swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, everything you can imagine and one blister. I was for practically a month before I discovered what was going on. I go back in 6 weeks to see if I will need to go on any meds.
I feel like i am finished with the worst of this outbreak
I am going to lay off the meds for about 3 days then start a 1 a day regimine
Fingers crossed i can tolerate it
I currently feel like i just walked accross the desert
Itchy dry skin, chapped lips, dehydration symptoms like brown urin, constipation, headache, no saliva, always thirsty.
Argh !!!!!
If your urine is brown, you need to be drinking a lot more water/fluids, especially if on the meds. You need to flush the waste from the meds out of your kidneys.
Its weird
Im drinking copious amounts of water but still feel super dehydrated. I read that can happen to some. It seems odd, where is the water going?
Im hoping its a transient effect and will eventually pass
I have doc appointment next week so i will ask about it
I really really want to stay on suppressive therapy
