Medication to relieve vertigo?

If you have taken anything that has worked please respond thanks!

Klonopin 0.5mg

Your doc can give you stemitil or betahistine, but both ultimately slow the recovery from your vertigo

It also depends on what is causing your vertigo. If migrainous, various migraine preventative drugs can help. If menieres, intratympanic steroid injections can help, as well as low sodium diet. Klonopin, or other benzos are also sometimes given as well for both conditions. I personally have migraine disease. I have a personal and family history of migraine with aura and migraine variant. When my dizzies started, it was in attacks, accompanied by facial pressure and pain. I take propranolol as a migraine preventative, and it's helped. I have since developed some symptoms that could be atypical menieres, so I may be developing that as well. While menieres is pretty uncommon, it is common for those with it to also have migraine.

I am not familiar with current treatments for vestibular neuritis, but my mom had it 25yrs ago, and they gave her antivert until she got better, but it pretty much knocked her out during that time.

Have you done the injection thing? Any good or bad news that you've heard about it?

Since I have not been diagnosed with menieres yet, I have not had the shots into the ear. The dr who I saw at Stanford said maybe I have atypical menieres or the beginnings of it. Menieres usually progresses eventually- so if I start getting vertigo attacks or hearing loss that is characteristic of menieres, he would do the intratympanic steroid shots. He says they have great success with them at Stanford. I would not hesitate to do them, but my dizziness seems to be well controlled by diet and Klonopin for now.

Are your feelings of dizzyness followed by pressure headaches?
