Ménière et l'aviation

Should flying be avoided with this disease?

There should be no issues with flying. The disease involves the inner ear where flying causes issues with the middle ear. I have flown several times with it and have had no problems. If you are susceptible to air sickness you can premedicate with a motion sickness med avable over the counter.

Bonne chance !

Agree with Donna that flying will not trigger an attack and I have flown since I was diagnosed. I still have to equalise due to pressure in outer ear but did not trigger an attack as different part of ear. If you are having regular attacks you need to consider if you want to be in a plane when you have an attack as I imagine it would not be pleasant. I didn't fly until I had not had an attack for some time and even flew on a local flight for an hour as a test run before I was relaxed enough for a 3 hr international flight Akld to Australia.
