Menopause and disorientation

hello had problems with headaches, which seemed to go away but came back after seeing a osteopath. now getting moments of disorientation when i look up and dont know momentarily where i am or things look different. it usually follows me worrying about something. i knew i couldnt trust my mind anymore as my memory is shot due to menopause ( doctor said that it would come back post menopause but hasnt) but now worrying i have dementia. trying to get to doctors but having trouble, can go to a walk in clinic on Saturday. cant speak to a doctor over phone. anyone else? please answer worried sick. i have the other usual crap as well!

this sounds awful. do you have any problems with eyesight? Ive noticed as my vision has changed over the years (and i wear glasses for close up/detail when reading etc) i can become disoriented. My spacial vision seems to have altered too - i notice i am more likely to bump into things in shops etc, and less ability to see in peripheral vision etc.

Hi Claire,

You composed a perfectly logical post so I’m sure you don’t have dementia. Maybe it is an ocular migraine with aura? I know someone who had this during menopause and caused similar symptoms with a lot of anxiety. I think going to the doctor will give you some peace of mind.

I often feel off balance with a weak in the legs feeling when my period is due (but never arrives). To me this means my body is trying to regulate hormones and my engine is running low on estrogen. Maybe chalk it up to this and tell yourself you are healthy but those hormones levels are up and down playing with your psyche. If I really feel off I take a Xanax at bedtime and hope the feeling is gone in the morning.

Pamper yourself by taking a warm bath, do some deep breathing, go for a drive, binge watch TV or indulge in any simple creature comfort. This too will pass.

thanks for your replies. its just a bit ‘what now!!!’ the rest of the world goes on merrily and those of us suffering have to just get on with it in silence. i did wonder about it being connected with migraine an auras.
