Menopausia y cansancio

Hi everyone, I am menopausal for more than 2 years now. I have been experiencing exhaustion for about 2 weeks now. I also have been putting on weight around my stomach area also. Has anyone been experiencing the same issues also?

Yes Maria, this is all very common. I know that most women think that the minute they have passed the one year mark that it’s all done and over with. Not true. And even when you aren’t have periods, your ovaries are still producing some amount of estrogen and testosterone. (although not enough to create periods) But some women in menopause can actually run estrogen levels at 50pg/ml. Over time, that dwindles too. Typically it’s believed that your body will try to give you estrogen, which is why we gain belly fat. That fat produces a mild form of estrogen called estrone. This is one reason why fatter women may not experience menopausal symptoms the way that thinner women do.

But yes, I didn’t feel much when my periods stopped, but years later, of did things come apart. The aging is just lovely, isn’t it? LOL

Hi Gailannie
Thanks for that validation, in that we dont just lose all hormones but only specific ones and that the others are continuously made. It also explains (which has been the true reality check for me) why this didnt magically end..it just continues in and out of symptoms and phases to varying degrees some harder on women than others.
I had a lot of estrogen at one point right before i crashed to less than 5 pg/ml.
It was around 940 or something obscenely high. So i felt it …oh ya i felt it alright.
two years later..struggle continues, but it kind of improves if you look at it from rose colored glasses.
thanks for the post.

I guess if you are post meno thats around the same time frame im in.
Im not gaining around the middle , looser skin for sure though uck.
But anxiety and cortisol im thinking keep my weight down..its also not a good thing..id rather be plump that scary thin and your getting those looks from people.

When you are really tired just try and slow down if you can any time you are able.
Just kick back and let things go. (harder to say than do)
when ive washed dishes 3-4 times in one day plus everything else, i get burned out.
I hope you are doing ok..just rest when you can, and make sleep priority #1
