are you seeing a neurologist?  Regular docs dont know much about migraines.  The eye involvement should be evaluated by a specialist.  Chronic pain is awful.  I feel for you. Are you losing weight because you are in too much pain to want to eat or???

What meds are you taking, I take propranolol which reduce the severity of my migraine. BUT I am putting weight on with them despite cutting all fatty sugary foods out of my diet 😁

Hi Audrey,

Please, please go to another doctor!!!!  Are you seeing a neurologist?  You must not lose any more weight.  If the preventative medication is not helping, take another (with the advice of another doctor).  Also read up on migraines on the internet--Everyone is different and what works for one patient may not work for another.  I have had migraines and severe head pressure for 14 years on a daily basis.  I find that Relpax (which was prescribed) helps, but can be taken only three times a week.  I fill in with Excedrin for Migraine which can be taken only every 24 hours.  Today my new neurologist prescribed Topamax, which other migraine sufferers have taken.  I'm told any change will come about slowly.  We'll see.....good luck and please check elsewhere for help, expecially if what you're taking now is not helpint.  Good luck.

ugh I couldnt tolerate the topamax.  have you taken any tripans such as Imitrex?  if you truly have a migraine with blood vessel enlargement, these meds are the ticket. You really need a more comprehensive work up.  Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease so keep pressing the medical "professionals(?)" to continue to find answers for you XOXO

I agree with triptans, I have almogran (almotriptan) triptans are the only drugs that work for me once a migraine takes hold.

Have you been to an optician ?

do you have any renowned hospitals or teaching hospitals near you? Here in So Ca we have UCI Medical Center, Scripps Institute, and even more cutting edge facilities in Los Angeles.  If you can afford it or have insurance you might look into one of those kinds of places. Also try acupuncture, it isnt a fake it really works. I have gone in there with a massive headache and nausea and I come out pain free and no nausea

let us know what happens    hang in there and I am sending positive thoughts you can beat this thing down.  That being said I feel a migraine coming on me today (just about every day frankly) GRRRRR

Audrey, so sorry you are having to deal with these headaches. I have had them for 40+ years. In the last 5 years or so I have had pain in my left eye. At first I thought the pain in my eye was causing me to get a headache. I subsequently determined that my eye was slightly twitching, nothing you can see but I could put my fingers on it and feel it. I have taken them all!! Consider seeing a neurologist that specializes in Migraines. I still don't have mine under control but at least I'm not having them everyday!!! The thing I have found that helps when the migraine meds don't knock it out is taking a generic Adivan to help me relax/sleep. This is an addictive medication and shouldn't be taken as a replacement. My neurologist explained that meds everyday just cause rebound headaches. Good luck and just remember every dr is not a good fit for you! Just keep looking!!

I'm so sorry to hear of your issues. Topomax side effects were awful on me, they made me dizzy all the time amongst other things. Immitrix ca only be taken 4 times a month and isn't the best option for you. It took me 10 months of tests (MRIs, MRAs, CT scan, ENG, blood work etc etc) and 5 different medications before the source of my migraines was discovered. You may have eye pressure issues, you may have your vertabrae extended and putting pressure on certain areas of your brain or a specific migraine disorder. My migraines would persistantly pulse behind my left eye. However, with your weight loss issues I would stronly recommend you go to the ER. At a hospital they can do a battery of blood work, x rays and scans to narrow down your issue. I found out my neck had lost 40 degrees of curve extending out and putting extreme pressue on my cerebellum, brain stem and left temporal lobes in addition to cutting off oxygen through the occipital lobes but this was not something neurologists were looking for so even though it showed up on MRI and CT scan, it was not discovered for nearly a year. I wish I had gone to the ER at the beginning instead of seeing 6 specialists.

Hi Donna, I suffered for years with migraines that lasted for four days, two or three times a month. When my doctor put me on water tablets for border line blood pressure my bad migraines ceased. I now get them months apart and not as bad as I used to.😊
