I had a severe episode of vertigo about a month ago. I was standing at my computer when I started sweating, then vertigo for hours! I vomitted a few times, then eventually went to bed. Since then, I have intermittent ear ringing, ear fullness, facial numbness, migraines, neck pain, and a constant dizziness/rocking sensation.
In 2008, I had a very similar attack. I went to the ER and all my tests came back normal. I was told it was anxiety. It lasted for months! I was uninsured at the time, so I never went back. Since then, I have always had dizziness and numbness that comes and goes.
My PCP thinks it's Meneires. I just did my MRI today, and nothing is showing in my brain, sinuses, or ears. I've always had migraines, but never with vertigo. Does this sound like either? What tests would rule out one or the other? My doctor is referring me to an ENT.
My understanding of menieres is intially when it first begins u have constant attacks of vertigo that ease off as the years go by and then u r left with hearing loss. If ur last attack was 2008 then I'm not sure if it's menieres. It could be MAV but it could also be LABS as Iv heard people say the same symptoms as u and they were dx with labs. Most people I talk to have atleast two attacks of vertigo in a year with menieres but I guess it can be different for different people.
Labyrinthitis. I have suspected Vestibular neuritis and lots of forums I read say u can't have tinnitus with it but then some doctors and specialists say u can lol. Mines 24/7 tho.
I have vestibular neuritis with ringing in the ear. Abt 16 years ago I had Labyrinthitis that left me with permanent tinnitus. I had gotten use to it but since this onset of VN the ringing has intensified. Tomorrow will make my 10th week of dealing with this. Some things have gotten better but I'm still suffering. Im hoping soon it'll all be a distant memory.
Cause vertigo is a symptom not a disease it's irrelevant. Menieres is so hard to diagnose most won't even say one way or the other.the treatment for menieres or benign positional vertigo is about the same.ENT will or should order tests.VNG,hearing test.this tells them if vestibular system is working right.then they will say there's no cure.learn to live with it.i have had it for 10 years now.in the middle of a bad spell now.had several episodes of vertigo in the past 3 weeks.go for a VNG in the morning.its gonna suck.everythingnow trips it.light, sounds, movement.dizzy all the time.some things on the internet give you some hope but docs say different.will be going to vestibular rehab as well. been there a few times.it don't help either. Cat scans, blood work, ekg, all that stuff came back normal a dozen times.
I originally got Labyrinthitis in 1999 after getting a flu shot. I was 24. It was by far the scariest thing I had experienced in my life. If I remember correctly I had constant vertigo for 3 weeks straight, 24 hours a day. I lost 15 pounds! When I stopped the constant vertigo I was left with hazy vision, constant ringing in the ear and off balance. All together it took me over 7 weeks to recover. However, the ringing never went away. Over time I adjusted to it. But for the first 6 months I nearly lost my mind. This time around I have a constant rocking/swaying feeling, visual disturbances and of course the ringing is louder than ever. 10weeks now. I'm waiting for the day I wake up and I'm symptom free. I'll be thrilled. I just finished vestibular rehabilitation therapy this past Wednesday. I will continue to do the exercises at home for another 4 weeks. Are you having any balance or visual issues or do you have only ringing in the ear? As if the ringing alone isn't bad enough.
I have intermittent ear ringing, ear fullness, facial numbness, migraines, neck pain, and a constant dizziness/rocking sensation. My doctor said I have horizontal nystagmus as well.
That would have been frightning! I'm 28 and mine started 4.5 months ago. Woke up one night to vertigo. Think it lasted 3 days. I had balance issues and felt dizzy for ages. The ringing started 9 weeks after the vertigo so not sure why that happened! I'm doing a lot better. Still don't feel 100%. Sometimes I have great days and then not so good days. I'm hoping the ringing will go away one day
How long did it take for your balance/dizzy issues to get better? I feel like my balance is much better since doing therapy. Some days I have hope that I'm getting back to myself and some days I just feel awful. I have noticed some changes. I no longer have the ear fullness. I don't feel quite as hazy or have such a heavy feeling in my head. More of a pressure feeling now and he rocking and the rocking is felt more when laying down. Sometimes when I'm walking or standing I don't feel it at all. Unless it's a bad day then I do. Being patient and remaining positive is very important.
I've had these symptoms for over a month. Since 2008, I've felt like I've been on a boat, but it comes and goes. I've had two or three episodes of vertigo that I woke up to. During those times, I've been able to go back to sleep for a while and it goes away. This episode of vertigo was not so gentle. It went on for at least four hours. Been dizzy ever since.
Since 2008?!!! Oh my goodness. I can only pray mine isn't permanent. I absolutely hate this rocking feeling. It's so strange. I've been on so many cruises, I go on my boyfriends boat regularly and I've never had an issue and then all of a sudden this. It's not fun.
It comes and goes for me. The first neuro I saw said it was anxiety. I was young and uninsured and thought he knew more. It went away for a while, then came back hard! Now I won't stop until I get answers.
I had a boat.spent lots of time on it fishing with my wife.then one day got motion sickness from it.lasted a long time. couldnt do it after that.sold the boat
