Mirtazapine 30-45?

Hi

I have been on mirtazapine for;

4weeks at 15mg

2weeks at 30mg

The psychiatrist says he is happy to go to 45mg

How long should I stay on 30 before I feel the full benefit?

Scared of jumping again to 45mg as I have heard a few negative stories

Advice needed? Thanks

Hi gavin I am just nearly by Monday be 4 weeks on 30 mg can honestly say yesterday and this morning best I have been in the last 6 weeks like you I did 2 weeks on 15 mg before going up to 30 mg .hope this helps xxstay with it xx

Hi Gavin,

For me personally, I would give it 3-4 weeks on the dosage you're on now, which is 30MG, to see if your body adjusts to the dosage and you're getting the benefits of the medication with minimal side effects.

I feel like it's best to minimise the reliance on medication, so I try to utilise as much of the benefits as possible from that dosage before moving onto something stronger.

Of course this is just my opinion and what I feel is suitable for me, your psychiatrist will know more about your concerns so they may feel it's best to increase your dosage.

All the best

Hi Gavin.I've been on Mirt for 9 weeks at 15mg and 4 1/2 weeks at 30mg.I could go to 45mg but after being at the 30mg dosage for this amount of time I'm feeling good enough to stay at Mirt for 30mg for now.I take 15mg in the morning and 15mg at night,so maybe splitting it up could be better.Now I do take 600mg of Gabapetin for nerve blocking(200mg 3 times daily) and Tramadol for pain(50mg twice a day),so they could make a difference between you and me.I would say wait a couple more weeks at 30mg and see how you do.It is easier to add Mirt than to go off it once you started.(so i've heard).God Bless You,Bob
