I was prescribed mirtizapine 15mg last week. I have taken it twice (since Sunday). I feel groggy and tired throughout the day, the day after. I take it about 9pm on a night. I’m also feeling sick and constipated, dizzy and getting a pain in my chest. I do think it’s all related to the mirtizapine. I think I’m working myself up and creating the feelings as I’m thinking about it too much. Would be interested to hear others opinions on it.

I was prescribed 7mg a year ago. Took the first dose and was completely ā€œknocked outā€ the following day so my Consultant agreed that I can take 3.5 mg which I’ve been taking for the last year with no problem. The only difficulty is trying to cut a tiny tablet into 4 !

Mirtazapine is widely prescribed for patients on dialysis as an appetite stimulant as well.

I’ve been taking two tablets of 7.5mg for sleep, and I have no problem the next day. It has helped me so much. (I’m on other meds for my anxiety and depression.) I make a practice of trying what has been prescribed for a month and then talking with my provider after that…unless of course I have a terrible reaction. It gives my body time to adjust to the new medication. Hope this helps.

I thought 7.5 was the lowest available dose of Mirtrazapine?

My apologies for the mistake. You are quite right, 7.5mg is the lowest dose (ie half a 15mg tablet). I am therefore taking 3.75mg with no problems and feel a lot more relaxed. I take it about 9pm
