Hi,
Just found these pages
I am 30 and after months maybe even years of self treatment for what I thought was thrush, a dermatologist has diagnosed Lichen Sclerosus.
I have been using Dermovate ointment which helps, but as soon as I wean down to stop using it my symptoms flare up again. Making me miserable. I've tried using E45 inbetween using steriod cream but not making a lot of difference.
Any one have any suggestions?
I have also just been back to the Dermatologist and she has referred me to a gynaecologist, as i now can't urinate properly. Going to have to have surgery. Has anyone had to go through this? Advice would be well recieved!
Don't even get me started on sex!
Hi
I was diagnosed last summer and its a nightmare trying to control the symptoms. Sorry to hear you'll need surgery.
I was advised off someone else on here to try Oilatum Plus in the bath and it is really working i'm not having to use steroid cream half as much.
You have a bath in it every night, you can buy it at the pharmacy (£12) but you'll probably get it on prescription too.
Hope your op goes ok.
hi, I used dermovate , and when my LS was under control the consultant put me on HC 45 Hydrocortisone 1% twice a week. If the simptoms flared up I would go back to dermovate. The time between flare ups got longer and longer. I've now started using paladin ointment with great results, I no longer use the prescribed ointments. I wash in Manuka honey soap, lathers no sting. Good lookx
Sorry to hear of your symptoms
as you may have noticed on one of the other threads, there is a lot of positive talk on here about Paladin and Palomar creams (basically barrier / nappy type creams from the US) however now over here and available thru ebay - read the link.
I'm 38, had symptoms of LS for over a year now which I treated with Trimovate steroid prescribed by my GP but was only finally diagnosed by a Gynaecologist a few months ago. I continued using the steroid (reluctantly) whenever I felt the skin break down into lesions which was about once a week. I ordered Paladin on the back of recommendations on here, thought it was worth a go, and with once daily use it has made a MASSIVE difference to healing the skin and I haven't needed to use steroid again. Someone on the thread said it virtually permanently cleared their symptoms so I live in hope! In my experience, when I have lapsed with using it, the symptoms have returned, but just one application sorts things out. I'm just grateful to have found relief apart from steroid and whilst it may not work for everyone, it would appear to work for plenty of others so I would urge you to give it a go.
Keep posting, we're here for one another. Take care x
