- Hi Im a 55 year old lady who had a hip replacement one and a half years ago, i still get a lot of pain in my groan area. My surgeon thinks its the tendon which needs cutting, has anyone else experienced this?
Hello Melanie i had my right hip done in December early last year that was the main reason i went for hip replacement, i have recently had my left hip done April 18th and i still continue to have pain in both groin areas. I am very disappointed but keep hoping it will go eventually? I am told it can take months i am 73 and recovering very slowly! i do hope you can feel better soon very frustrating isnt it BEST WISHES CYNDEY
I just got an mri because of groin pain along with other pains. It showed groin strain so physical therapy now know what to address. my doctor didnt suggest cutting anything.
Hello Melanie
I have psoas tendon issues. I feel this is your problem. I have been doing physio to assist this (as well as hydro therapy earlier on) and it is working. The other solution if it did not settle was surgery to cut it - which means snip it, take out a piece of the tendon and join back together. It may be snipped in other ways I have been told but that is what my specialist explained. I would try anything before any more surgery after 3 hip replacements (1 to replace a faulty hip). All the best.
Hi Melanie, I am in exactly the same situation as yourself having my RTHR in November '17. I have had constant groin pain since the op. resulting in three ultrasound guided injections, fluid taken from hip. Initially loosening was suspected, now the psoas tendon is suspected. I am so fed up with it and hope in the next few weeks I will have an idea of the way forward. So I hope you have some relief very soon. Take care.
Hi I had a left hip replacement 2 years ago at age 39. I’ve had awful groin pain since that goes down to my knee. I have physio and massage that really hurts but does relieve it a bit.
physio said that all the muscles that should be kicking in now aren’t because my body’s been so used to using different ones for years to compensate. I’m on a waiting list for pain relief injection. it’s surprising how tight muscles and tendons get!
