Estou só curiosa...alguém que já tomou uma dose alta de Prednisona suficiente para conseguir nosso conhecido rosto de lua, também achou que isso deixa a parte inferior do pescoço inchada? Parece que estou me transformando em um jogador de futebol! Antes da Prednisona, eu costumava ter um rosto e pescoço finos e pequenos. Agora, oito meses depois, mal me reconheço em fotos. Ugh. Obrigada pelas respostas desde já.
The neck puffiness is called a buffalo hump, a side effect of pred. It seems that pred has the effect of getting our fat to move to places we don't want it!
Yep the moon face is horrible I too dont recognise myself in photos and being large around the tummy area is real uncomfortable some days I don't want to go out cause the way people look at me. Then there's the sweating when you're out and looks like you just jumped out of the shower.
I had full blown moon face, so much so my mouth was barely a little line between my puffed out cheeks. Don't remember the neck but did have puffy areas. I remember reading somewhere once that someone wrote she looked like a Zebra. I didn't know what she meant until I started discovering long fatty deposits on my body. Keep the faith...it all goes away eventually. If I recall, moon face started getting better soon after a big drop in dosage.
I am on 8mg medrol (=10mg prednisone) for last 6 wks. (Down from 6wks on 9mg.) Have what I call chipmunk cheeks, which is probably what is also called moon face. Fat deposit also within what is ordinarily the cuppy part of the collarbone. And, as you describe, a lot of sweating with exertion. Add the red and purple blotches on most of the visible skin and it presents a beautiful picture.
Este último surto da minha GCA começou em maio de 2015. Foi tão grave que meu reumatologista me aumentou para 80 mg de prednisona a partir dos 60 mg que geralmente começo. Este é meu 4º surto. Eu comecei a GCA há 7 anos. Agora estou em 4 mg, mas também tomo Actemra e 0,8 mg de metotrexato. Meu rosto está inchado, com bochechas redondas causando rugas terríveis no meu lábio superior. Também tenho uma corcunda de búfalo e um estranho caroço de gordura ou líquido de cada lado do meu pescoço, estendendo-se até a minha alça de sutiã. Meu abdômen e seios estão enormes. Passei de um sutiã 36C para um 42DD. Ganhei 50 lbs neste surto, além dos 10 lbs restantes do último surto. Já perdi 18 lbs até agora. Tenho problemas sérios na coluna e este peso não está ajudando em nada. Eu era ativa e atlética, mas agora estou fraca e cansada o tempo todo. Não consigo me exercitar muito por causa da dor e da falta de ar assim que ando um pouco. Minha depressão com tudo isso também não está ajudando. Só quero dormir.

Quite a lot of people on another forum (different site) will tell you they avoided or reduced the moonface effect and weight gain by cutting carbs drastically. I went on a low carb diet while still at 15mg and lost weight from the start - the first area of pred fat to go was that round my midriff but the face thinned down as well after a while. I lost 36 lbs altogether.
Other ladies on the same site but a different forum, also on pred, have lost a lot of weight with Slimming World. It can be done although only you can find which way suits you best.
Eu comecei com 40 mg de prednisona e eventualmente parei depois de 10 meses. Comecei a ganhar peso e um pouco de inchaço no rosto quando comecei a reduzir minha dose. Meu colesterol subiu muito devido à prednisona. Segui as ordens do meu médico sobre a redução gradual após cada teste de velocidade de sedimentação do meu sangue. Já perdi todo o peso. Parei de beber álcool durante o período de medicação e tentei limitar a ingestão de sal também. Uma coisa boa no inverno passado foi que não sofri com a síndrome de Raynaud.
Tenho um pescoço terrível e enorme giba de búfalo - mas não tanto a face de lua - sou grato por essa pequena misericórdia!
E não vamos falar do tamanho da minha barriga esses dias! UGH.
No entanto, recentemente consegui reduzir para 5mg e minha filha disse ontem que pareço menos inchada - estou encorajada!

Ah, tantas manchas vermelhas nas minhas pernas, e agora começando nos meus braços. É constrangedor. Meu dermatologista disse que elas devem desaparecer após parar o Prednisona, mas só vou acreditar quando vir. Alguém?
Eu entendo totalmente. Eu também já fui muito ativa. Agora sinto que todos os meus músculos estão se deteriorando a cada dia. E o que é isso das maiores? Tive que comprar um alongador de sutiã! Tenho que rir para não chorar. Fiquei muito sem fôlego também em doses mais altas, mas não tanto agora.

They may well go away at lower doses, not needing to be off pred altogether. I had small red blotches for a while, but haven't had any for a long time. Some people say that using good skin creams helps.
Yes, got the moonface and the enormous stomach and boobs. I've been on high doses of pred over the last two years and am finally down to 15mg for the first time.
I've put on a third of my original weight, which was reasonably slim.
I got tired of paying for larger bra's which were uncomfortable anyway, so croptop bras from a supermarket chain is what I use these days. One day I hope to buy nice lingerie again!

Hi Pam, I do hope the red blotches do go away when I stop pred. I am on 5mg and still get them regularly. Some are really quite big. I seem to be having a lot of them at the moment for some reason. They do not seem to break open so often now though, thank goodness.
