I started citalopram 7 weeks ago on 10 mg and 3 weeks ago increased to 20mg and from around 3pm feel not too bad but the mornings are not good with anxiety. I wake numerous times before getting up and feel sick and but shaky and to be honest not really sure why. Im normally a morning person pull the covers back and start the day.
Any advice would be much appreciated how to deal with this. Is 3 weeks on increased dose too early to feel its making a difference?
I am the same was on sertraline for 1: week doc doc changed them day after to 20 mg Prozac been on these for 6 days mornings & afternoon are bad, shaky panicky, I think it’s because the tabs have been changed , I would imagine ur is the same u have to give it a few week, hope this helps
Thanks Wendy. If i can get past the nausea feeling in the morning i think i can cope with the rest. Hoping to go back to work next week after being off since November on a phased return and hoping that a routine will help take my mind off it.
Hi I know exactly how you feel I done the same few weeks on 10mg then Upto 20mg! I found that as the weeks go by you’ll notice small improvements. I’m now 5 months in and they are really working but I gotta say 9-12 weeks was the worst for morning anxiety i literally couldn’t eat I could feel the anxiety in my Stomach constantly until mid day ish then things would get better as the day went on! If you can get up early get dressed and go for a walk first thing it makes things much better. Citalopram is definitely not an over night fix or even a few weeks not for me anyway! You’ll keep having blips all the way but they become a lot easier to deal With. Patience is the key to healing on citalopram so keep going like I did and you will get there! Like I said I’m 5 months deep and I’m almost fully healed and let me tell you I had horrendous anxiety depression and intrusive thoughts. It’s nearly all gone so chin up and ride it out you’ll get there everyone I know including two of my best friends they got there and both are fully healed and got there life back. Trust the process and have plenty of patience x
The nausea was so bad ive lost 2 stone and not great eating during the day but can eat evening meal and snack a bit as well as the odd glass of wine.
I can see small changes but frustrated its not happening fast enough as im so hard on myself. I keep saying just one day at a time but then thats the day i have a blip and could just cry. Everyone around me is so supportive which is good. As ive said im going back to work next week so fingers crossed a change in routine will help instead of just sitting here with my thoughts all day. I do try to get out a walk when i can and need to ensure i take time away from laptop as i could sit there 8-6 hardly moving.
I have just seen doctor this morning and mentioned about morning anxiety and she’s recommended to take tablet in the afternoon so i have more in system in morning and see if helps. Anyone tried this and did it work? Thanks
You don`t say why you are taking citalopram. It would take far too long to explain my story about drugs and alternatives but i suggest you start to investigate alternative ways to manage/overcome your situation such as vitamins and minerals plus quality of food intake, ie, remove processed/ultraprocessed food and very importantly, exercise! This process will take some time to realise so be patient and don`t expect any results in the short term. Good luck.
