Kind of gross story ahead. Sorry about that.
My brother has had HIV for roughly the past 5 years. Not until late last year did he leave his denial stage and start taking his meds for it. Anyway, he also now has bleeding hemorrhoids. He has to wear adult diapers and gets his blood on almost everything in the bathroom. Mainly towels. He sometimes doesn’t even wash his hands. He truly believes you can only get HIV if you share dirty needles (that’s how he got it) or have unprotected sex. While those are the most common ways of transmitting it, he won’t listen to me that it’s still carried in his blood. He keeps refusing to go to the doctor for his problem but when he eventually does and has surgery the bleeding will only get worse for a while.
Luckily I am moving out this August to a student apartment but dealing with the anxiety of constantly being exposed to HIV is making it really hard to focus on my school work and everyday life. He is a very selfish person and will not be careful with his blood. I sometimes think he wants me and my mother to catch the disease so we will be trapped like he is. I’ve already tried getting the police involved and naturally they won’t do anything about it. Any advice on how to ease my anxiety until August?
