I’ve just taken my first dose of Citalopram & I truly hope it works out for me, any stories to help me keep moving forward?
Hi. I too started on 20mg around mid November. Being honest with you the first couple of weeks I had the normal side effects....nausea, headaches, dry mouth, jaw jitters and fatigue. These did subside but around week 3 my anxiety went through the roof. It was awful. This again is normal. I had propanolol and diazepam to help.me through a really tough couple of weeks. My Dr also enrolled me on a stress management course which i have 1 more week of and has really helped. I'm feeling much better and much more able to deal with my anxiety and panic attacks. Look into some type of therapy along with the meds. You may find it really tough for a few weeks so don't be too shocked if this happens. It is normal and the meds can take a good 6 to 8 weeks to start really working. Have supportive people around you and stick with it. Good luck
They will help you but your body needs to adjust to them which takes some time, post on here how you are feeling and I'm sure someone will get back to you.
Hi there i started taking it 25 days ago. The first 2 weeks were the most challenging as I had nausea and increased anxiety as side effects but these are becoming less and am having better days. Some take it at night as for some it aids sleep for others they prefer to take it in the am. Good luck and keep taking them and living one day at a time x x
It is a very slow process and at times you may want to give up. Only advice I can give is just persevere with it, the first 2 weeks I found so hard. Being on heat and hearing from people on here gave me courage and motivation to keep going. For that I am very grateful because I’ve come a long way from where I was. I’m now on week 5. If you ever need to talk or vent your more than welcome to message me. Good luck in your journey xx
my advice to you is take each day as it comes, for the 1st 4 weeks you may get some side effects, but persevere and the medication will help you.You don't say what mgs you are taking, plus any problems put it down and some one be able to help you
I have been on Citalopram for about 6 months now.I am taking it for anxiety attacks. When I first took it I had a couple of attacks still and I was going to stop taking it thinking it wasn't working. But I carried on taking it and have been fine since. No side effects,I take 10mg and take it at night helps me to sleep.
Good luck and hope it helps you too.
Day 38 today for me, A better day, I cut the corner off the 7.5mg of mirtazapine I've been prescribed for sleep and still slept. Hopefully that will work tonight too, when I don't need it I know I'm on the road to recovery. Mirt is great for sleep but adds to the tiredness of the citalopram.
