Hi, I hope someone can help me. For the past few weeks my right eye has been watering and at first I thought it was conjunctivitis. I'd suffered from this quite often as a child. But now it's just continues to keep watering. Its driving me crazy. Is there any suggestions for me please? Thank you.
Hi I trained as a nurse.
t had this and it was due to a blocked eye duct .
Sometimes it can be caused by dry eye syndrome. Best thing imho is to see an eye specialist to rule out dry eye syndrome so that specialist treatent be started asap, I would advise using any eye driops unless prescribed by an eye specialist.
Take care
It could be just a simple infection which will hopefully clear up with medication or you may have something lodged in your eye. Another possibility is a blocked tear duct, which I have suffered for many years. I had two procedures over the course of a year which were not very pleasant & had limited success. My consultant wanted to carry out a more drastic procedure but I’d been pulled about enough by then & decided not to bother & now I just put up with it. It could be “dry eye” which is more unpleasant & requires further investigation & possibly on-going medication. Pop in & see your optician who will be able to help with advice or eye drops, if you wear eye make up it may help to avoid this for a while to see if it improves.
i read your reply to julie30298 good one. i also read what you went through. let me tell you mine, they have been telling me i have dry eyes (the ones that run like water) i have had many sets of plugs, tubes, recontruction on my tear ducts, numberous dry eye drops and steroids . nothing has worked. i have been to 6 drs and they all want to start back with the plugs again (which i don't let them) My eyes get so watery sometimes that i can't forcus my eyes. i am trying to live with this but it is very hard. the latest dr did tell me about a contact lens that (they call it a square lens, don't know why it is round) anyway it is a hard lens that keeps solution in it and will keep your eyes moisturized through out the day. he says it really works. i have 2 problems with it , i don;t know anything about it and the second is , it is out of pocket a $1000. if you or anyone has heard about this please let me know thanks for letting me vent
Hi cheri; luckily my problem was blocked tear ducts, not dry eye which seems a bit of a misnomer until you understand how the whole eye gland/duct system is supposed to work. I know dry eye can be far more troublesome but don’t know much about possible treatments so, sorry, I can’t help.
thanks appreciate the reply
if you google Moorfields eye Hospital London they have lots of info that may help you. Take care
