Been thinking about taking some natural remedies to help with my current anxiety and depression and wondered what folk would recommend that wouldn't interfere with Venlafaxine and quetiapine?
I tried niacin last time I was ill but it didn't help.
Any suggestions?
Neil
L-theanine, works on the same GABA receptors as benzos and its clinically proven to bring relief for those who suffer with anxiety, wild lettuce extract, valerian roots , hemopatic pills kali phos 6, lemon balm. All available on ebay or amazon. It really helps xx
Even with natural remedies it's always best to check with a qualified person such as your gp. Even non prescription substances can interfere with meds
Ive checked all of them with doc and they safe to take. You can always check it on drugs. Com. Or on reddit.x
Hi Neil I would recommend you Google and see what plants etc interact with both your medications.A lot of things that work on the Gaba receptors are very toxic when mixed with medication. Are you feeling any better?
The OP should still check, everyone's physiology and history is different, what is ok for one person may not be for another
Benzos work on Gaba receptors and they wildly prescribed along with ADs. L-theanine is basically extract from green tea. So we should really avoid drinking green tea when on AD? Ive asked few doctors about and was given Ok to take it together.
Google really isn't a substitute for a Dr to be honest, even reputable sites make mistakes. If it came to something so critical, I wouldn't trust it. Also Google doesn't know anything about a person's prior history and so can't take it into account. A Dr is a much safer option
I don't know enough to suggest anything, but I do know you must avoid St Johns Wort!!!
How are you feeling?
Oh I agree, Aspinan just asked for recomendations of herbal suplements that can be taken with ADs and Ive given reply based on my expiernce and based on consultation with doctors. It was what he was looking for. Nobody is making anyone to take anything and like you said we all diffirent but like I said based on my expierience there is no significant interreaction found with them.
And I wouldnt trust doctors as much as they tend to prescribe medications who shouldnt be mixed together. For example they put me on tramadol and ssri, nearly died from it, put me on both codeine and tramadol together, put my friend on quetiapine and escitalopram where these two drugs have major interreaction together ams shouldnt be mixed at all.
Yes but that's you, the point is that what is ok with you, with your history, your physiology and your current prescriptions are totally different from the next person. What is ok for you could actually be dangerous or even fatal for someone else. I'm sure you wouldn't want to recommend someone do as you have done and end up causing them harm
Of course I wouldnt. Ive just answered to the question and recommended herbal remedies that based on my expierience and doctors opinion are safe to take. As Im reading right that was Aspinans question. He is not daft and im sure he wont try any without consultation with doctor . On forum we are sharing our opinion and expierience. Thats why this website been created for. We all have our own mind and we know whats right and whats wrong. Nobody is making anyone to take anything. We just answer questions based on our expierience. What to do is up to the person asking question. We are not doctors and we are not here to curw ourselfs. We can only give advice on what is known to us.
Your free to take whatever advice you like and ignore whatever you like too. Only recently the mods and admins highlighted that a balanced and safe approach always had to be taken, as noone here is a medical professional. This means not assuming 1 persons experience or advice is the only viewpoint worth listening to. Some people can't and won't accept that, which is ok, but the more they don't, the more they will be reminded of their responsibility. Everyone should remember safety is paramount here, if they can't then again, they will ever challenged
How about chocolate biscuits, lol
Hi Karen, I'm not too bad upping my Venlafaxine to 75mg has made a small difference.
I go up to 150 next Friday, so fingers crossed.
I never thought such a simple question would cause such a stir lol.Glad you are feeling a bit better onwards and upwards.
Aga02916 hi I have just ordered some L- theanime from Amazon . Got to be worth a try .
Like I said before we only exchange informations and expierience on this website. Thats what this website is about. Aspinan asked for recommendations and we give reply based on our knowledge and expierience. Im sure he has got his own mind and knows what to do and wont take anything without doctors advise. Read his question again and stop acting like Im making him to take anything. It worked for me but it doesnt have to work for him. Im not pushing anyone to follow my advice. Its simple exchange of expierience and knowledge. We are not doctors and even person asking for advice is simply wondering and wants to know what kind of herbal remedies are out there and what worked for people so he can talk with doctor about it. He's got his own mind and know whats right and wrong. This thread is a discussion about it, its not about promoting taking something and playing a doctor. We cant cure ourselfs. We can only talk about things, about our expierience. It sounds like you are accusing me of promoting taking things without consultation with doctor when Im not. Im sharing my expierience so he can have some insight. Thats what all this is about. Sharing knowledge. He simply asked only about this. What other people taken and how it affected them. Simple.
