I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism two months ago, and just went to see the endocrinologist, who gave me these blood results:
tsh less than 0.03
free t4 over 100
free t3 40.3
I have some symptoms which seem to be common, e.g. weight loss, tremor, nervousness, high heart rate, sweating, weakness, increased appetite.
But the main symptom I have is nausea - this is what originally made me go to the doctor. I have nausea a lot, especially in the morning, and it stops me doing things and going to work. I have to just lie down all the time.
My endocrinologist says that nausea is not a symptom of hyperthyroidism and that it is probably a separate issue and will not be affected by the hyperthyroidism treatment.
Has anyone else had nausea as a major symptom?
PS. I am on propranolol 40g x3 a day and will start taking carbimazole soon.
Hi pomelo.Sorry to hear that you are suffering from nausea.I was diagnosed nearly four years ago as hyperthyroid and am still taking carbimazole and propranolol.One of the worst symptoms was nausea,together with fast heart rate,loss of weight and heat intolerance.l now take cyclycine three times a day.When they were investigating my symptoms they also found out that I had gallstones and I have since had my gallbladder removed.I do hope that you will be able to find the reason for your

Hi pomelo, most hyperthyroid patients have raised liver values. My doctors kept checking my liver values especially in view of taking Carbimazole.
Without wanting to sound too obvious you should also rule out being pregnant.

I have hyperthyroidism as well and have just started medication. I also have mild nausea but 2 months ago I was having the same symptoms you were. It was so bad that ive had to take sick leave because i have weak leg muscles and cramped leg muscles that i have trouble walking and my job is physical. Long story short, my endocrinologist said that Nassau, vomiting and or diarrhea ate symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Vomiting though can mean you're in a thyroid storm.

It is good to hear that nausea is not too unusual. I will ask my doctor about cyclycine and hopefully checking liver values. Thank you everyone
