Nearly 12 weeks post TKR, but feel cold all the time ......

Progressing well.  Clawing back most of my life after having this awful procedure and, therefore, getting stronger both physically and mentally each week.

However, since my op on 25th June,I have felt consistently cold.  We've had one of the best Summer's in years, but I have needed to wear a cardigan nearly all the time!  My family think I am nuts!

Be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Lynn, I hadn't really thought about it, but I am sitting in a big cardigan and everyone else are in tee shirts lol..I thought us was just me !! I suppose taking pain relief that would also reduce temperature could be a link .

Hi lyn .i am now just 5weeks post op and like you I am feeling cold. Keep thinking I am coming down with something .real teeth shattering cold somedays. Having to take my hot water to bed with me. Think it is the trauma our body's have been through. I feel at the the moment that I will never feel well again.love and take care

hey girls, hope your relatively ok today. the only place i have ice cold, all the time, is the toes on my operated knee foot. 10 days post op today, just been to have my dressing changed. i wish it felt as good as it looks. go tuesday to get staples out. dreading it just doesan't cover it. my knee is swelling & so tight. i have spinal stenosis & fibromyalgia aswell & they have not been as bad as they are these last few days. everyone keeps saying, "oh you will be fine".i just wish i had never had it done. chat soon girls & thanx for listening, i have no1 else to talk to, so finding this group was a god send. xxx

I was dreading the staples being removed, but it really isn't bad.  Might sting a little, but I felt it was easier to bend my knee afterwards.  Don't forget to moisturise the scar afterwards - as long as it has healed well. I used Bio-Oil to start with but it stinged a little, so changed to Palmer's Cocoa Butter.

Several times I told my husband I wished I hadn't had the op but, to be honest, I had no choice.  Seeing my consultant in November about knee No. 2.  It is probably more painful now than my operated knee.

Hi Lynn, no can't say I've felt cold particularly but at nearly 8 weeks post op still get days when I feel thoroughly washed out and exhausted. Also, my appetite is still not good. Does anyone else feel like this?

Jen

Yep, still get tired very easily.  Usually ready for bed by 9 pm.  Hope this improves soon. Knee starts to play-up then, too.

Appetite was non-existant for the first few weeks and lost about 10 lbs.  Am OK now, but my evening meal is sometimes a struggle.  Fine during the day.

to be honest lynn, i had no choice either. i knew it would be hard work afterwards, i even lost 2 & 1/2 stone & gave up smoking for the 10 weeks leading up to my op & believe me, if i could do that, i can do anything, lol, but i don't think they in any way, prepare you mentally. xxx

Unless you've been through this, no-one can prepare you.  Kind as they are, Consultants haven't got a clue.  Even my physio says this.

Congratulations on giving up smoking. And don't go back to it!

Yes me too, not to bad but my partner has been in vest tops and I have my cardi on, it's got better over the last week I'm 6weeks today into my surgery, and work is on at me already lolx not a chance as I work nights in the second largest Tesco in Europe and I'm 60 not16 lol

Hi Jen. I also have lost my appetite , I am pushing food down because I know how important it is. Also every couple of days I'm getting severe stomach cramps and the need to rush to the loo. The mere thought of food and I go slightly nuaseas . Wasn't like it before that rotten op. I am really regretting it. Take care and think of all the weight we are not putting on x

Think you may be pleasantly surprised when you have your staples out. It's quick and simple, I didn't feel a thing and I'm a cowardly custard. Take care

Hi Tucks, I had a problem with rushing to the loo a few weeks ago but better now. I've now got a water infection! Hoping it'll clear up after a3day course of antibiotics. We can do without these extra problems can't we? I stop myself regretting having it done by remembering what I was like before and how I couldn't enjoy a walk anymore. I'm hoping to enjoy walks again in a few months perhaps. Keep hopeful, Tucks 👍

Also, I've lost over 1/2 stone so, as you say, there is some benefit 😊 x

You're right, Lynne. I find even my physio doesn't seem to realise how hard it is though!

hiya anyone on here, need a bit of advice. my knee & whole leg, is blowing up something wicked, the pain is REALLLLLY bad & its soooooo tight. finding it hard to bend & not really done exercise today, as the pain is unbearable. any suggestions??? x x x

Get.  Some ice on it and make sure the leg is elevated. Have you any ibuprofen or similar . If it  doesn't start to improve ring your GP  or go to A&E

hiya pam, i have had a leg ice pack on all day. the pain is awful, but more worried about not exercising, but its just to painful/swollen & now stiff. got shooting pains up & down the sides of my leg. & i can feel it getting bigger & bigger xxx
