Hi all, i know this isnt a place just to get reassurance but im having real problems right now and would like some advice from anyone on here.
Ive been very tired all day, eye pain/strain and lightheaded. I get the lightheadedness and eye strain alot, almost daily.
I have a history of anxiety problems and health anxiety. However i am/i thought i was over the majority of it and could control it with ease.
Im currently on a train to catch a coach for a 6 hour journey and i feel slightly sick, really hot, lightheaded, agitated, blurred vision, pins and needles very easily, slight body pain, cold and warm flushes in different parts of my body, feeling of nothing is real/depersonalisation, heart skipping beats (well feels like it) as if i need to cough to kickstart it up again.. Its horrible.
I really dont want to sound like im asking for attention but im really quite worried and i hope this is just anxiety rather than something wrong with me because i feel like this alot more than i think anyone should.
So im asking for advice, tips, ideas of what this could be and coping methods anyone else uses to help them out in this situation.
Much appreciated everyone.
Hi. I know exactly how you feel when I am outside my comfort zone. What I do is, distract myself... in your case, look around you at people around you and maybe in your mind make up where you think they are traveling to, why they are traveling etc., maybe close your eyes & list in your head what you hear, look at what’s around you etc., you will be grand, it’s only adrenaline safe journey x
Hi JayDee,
I have experienced all those symptoms due to Anxiety at one time or another. With that said, you should see your GP and make sure your physical condition is OK. I have a physical every year, just to be safe.
I have traveled all over the world on business, my job requires a lot of travel-sounds like you as well. Even though I've done it all my life I NEVER headed out of the door on a trip without feeling depressed and with some anxiety. I felt that way right up until the time I put one foot inside the airplane or train, then I switched over into 'business mode' and the depression and anxiety pretty much stopped. But before I put that first step into my airplane/train I was depressed and had a lot of the symptoms you describe. Business travel can be very stressful, no question.
I did breathing exercises to help control the anxiety, 4 seconds of inhaling through the nose, hold the breath for 4 second and then 4 seconds of exhaling out through the mouth. Do that for a few minutes and you should feel better. Mild exercise can help as well, just walking for example. Remember, all anxiety really is is misdirected fear-your body is pumping adrenaline, your organs feel like they are tied up in knots and you just feel crappy. It will take some therapy to determine the exact cause of your anxiety, but the coping skills will help get you through it. Good luck and remember that you have a lot of company with this condition, there are many of us who feel exactly like you do.
