Hi Everyone,
I noticed a Herald patch on my back about two months ago. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed it wasn't going away. I treated it for ringworm but it didn't work. I had no other spots for a few weeks then boom it spread to my chest, stomach, groin and small spots on my legs. Went to three doctors before getting diagnosed with PR. I have had it now for 3 weeks and no sign of getting better. Everyday I find more! The sun does help a little but nothing else. It's driving me crazy and my self esteem is at an all time low. How long can you except to keep seeing new lesions? I'm going to see a naturopath tomorrow as I am desperate to get rid of it. Any advice would help thank you !!!
Hi Lainy May, sorry to hear you are having spots/rash due to Pityriasis Rosea. There are a number of others who have contributed towards the discussion on this. If you can access the links you will see you are not alone in your suffering. Every person seems to have their own time/ symptoms along with having been diagnosed with PR...some worse than others, so let's hope your will be short-lived and you can get some relief soon All the best. Rosy Posy.
isn't it horrible ! just when you think it's healing and fading new spots come out somewhere else ! Did you have that as well? You get so depressed and feel very isolated.
Yes, except that my spots turned into rings, that kept getting bigger, and then a new outbreak would pop up elsewhere, but the earlier ones just made wider and wider rings, with new rings in the middle- kinda like a bullseye target thingy.
I thought mine was healing the other day they were very faint and hardly seen then the last few days back to red spots. So frustrating. I know what you mean about the red rings now. My hearld patch and a few other big ones are doing exact that..white in the middle then red ring. When did you notice them disappearing or healing? I'm coming up to five weeks now which is nothing compared to some I know but you just don't know if they are going to get better. My diet is clean eating fermented foods too and exercising daily.
I just ordered Prreze! ill let you know what happens!
Great! Please keep us informed. That is what made mine go away
Hi stazstaz, I saw a specialist on Monday - who could do nothing - other than offer me a prescription for some Difflam mouthwash - which does not help too much. Still no taste in any food (except some really sweet things, which I can detect) ulcerated mouth changing from day to day...difficulty cleaning teeth and very sore so can only eat soft pappy food to sustain the body. What was your terrible 14 months like? I am not really bothered by the rash - which seems to be fading ...very slowly. Luckily no itching. It's nearly Christmas and I'm desperate to enjoy something ANYTHING at all. I've just been referred back to my GP?
This is all really so helpful. I’ve been dealing with PR for almost a month and I’m willing to try anything. Any recommendations for lotions or soaps I can use? The rash is spreading to my thighs and legs and I’m not sure if it’s just progressing or my current products are to blame for the irritation.
Hi Tash,
I have been only using QV wash and lotion.. nothing perfumed. I saw a naturopath and was put on lots of b12 foods and fermented foods such as cottage cheese, kombucha, kefir. I went in the sun alot. I'm five week tomorrow and they have almost gone!!
Haven't heard of using fermented foods to help... Have you considered perhaps putting some of the kefir on the outside? I would be interested to see if it has any direct affect on the rash.
So glad it seems the rash is almost gone!!!
Pure coconut oil seemed to work best for me. It kept my skin moist and didn't irritate the rash.
Thanks stazstaz, I've had the most miserable Christmas ever! Could not taste anything at all...and much too painful when I tried anything other than 'mushy' foods. I'm going to try the 'prreze' if I can get it in this country(I'm wondering if that might work for my mouth ulcers too) Many thanks for keeping everyone up-dated.
Hey guys just a quick update. The pure coconut oil seems to soothe my skin and stop the itching. I haven’t noticed the rash spreading any further so hopefully it’s peaked and I’ll see less irritation over the next few weeks. Also, I’ve seen a lot of people say to use vitamins to boost my immune system. Anyone try this and have success? Please let me know. Thank you!
I think I may have PITYRIASIS ROSEA- how is it diagnosed? it has only been a week but new spots are appearing every day. Does anyone know how I could have caught it? I am 57 and have never heard of it before.
I do not know if it helped mine directly, I just know that within 5 days of using it all the rash on my outsides dropped off, and the mouth sores went away at the same time- maybe because I was covered in the cream from neck to ankles? Maybe whatever makes it work just worked even in places I did not put it? Good luck, my poor baby!!!
My PR is around 16mths now and getting worse I'm sure nerves are today with it, I have tried preeze with no success, I'm trying hard to keep calm but when I look at myself in the mirror what a horror I look x x
Guttate psoriasis - reading your notes I'm now wondering if that may be me, I'm 66yrs over the last 12/18mths been very stressed with my ageing parents health 88/90yrs. I have many hot flushes daily just thinking of what may happen during the day. my dr's said PR to me back in May saying it will go on its own with no medication. I do drink booze everyday which I find it helps to relax but then I think maybe it may not be helping at all. your comments would be appreciated.

Thank you for your really helpful reply. I have an appointment with the doc this morning and will let you know how I get on . I’m so sorry you had it for 14 months... it’s been just over a week and is driving me nuts already. I have been under a lot of stress at work and not sleeping so wonder if that could be a factor.
Also I wondered where can you buy Prreze in case the doc hadn’t heard of it? A quick look online looks like amazon US? Is it available in UK?
Thank you again!
