I'm 41, had total hysterectomy last year and found a cyst on my pituitary gland last year. My hormones can't regulate even though I take hormone replacement therapy. The anxiety, headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, fatigue, etc etc is killing me slowly. I used to be one of the most energetic people ever and now it takes the life of me to do anything. I'm having a second MRI to Che k for growth. Can that cyst be causing me not to level out? Any suggestions? I'm scared to have it removed but I think this is the culprit of my on going issues. Has anyone had the surgery? Do you feel better? i would be ever so grateful for anyone who's gone through this to share their experiences. Thank you soooo much!!!
Hi I’ve had a pituitary Tumor for some 20 years now, although I haven’t had it removed, lots have. I took medication, bromocriptine and the carbagoline, read the story of Russel Watson the singer , he had a pituitary Tumor twice and had it removed, it didn’t stop him from performing. At present I have been off meds for approx 5 years as they say it’s none producing, I had an MRI scan recently and they said my levels are fine. I had quite a lot of what you describe at the begining. My advice is too not worry too much even though it’s hard and go with what they suggest, as far as I remember they will only remove a pituitary Tumor, if it’s over a certain size. But try not too concern yourself too much as anxiety could possibly make you feel worse than you really are. Take care, and good luck with your scan.
Thank you so much for your input!! Did the medications help?? Did your symptoms go away after the medications?
At first I took bromocriptine ,for me it worked after about 5 days and I felt better than I had done. Some people have problems with side effects, fortunately I had none. I was on this for some 15 years taking 2 per day. I was then put onto carbagoline which I took once per week. The only thing I can honestly say is during all of this time the only side effect I had was constipation, which is a side effect of these drugs, other than that I suffered no other, but that's not always the case. Good luck and best wishes
Thank you so much.... this info has been amazing! I'm so glad I reached out!!!!! Thank you so much!
hello,
i am wondering what mental symptoms you all had before diagnosis and during both medicines cabergoline and bromocriptine. i have a Prolactinoma 6 mm. pituitary secretes both progestin and growth hormone. i have had both medicines Cabergoline first crying all the time lump in throat and GERD. i discovered on this site low estrogen causes some of that. i am menopausal so increased estrogen throat and GERD symptoms went away. i wanted to go back and try weekly Cabergoline, but Endo says to wait and stay on Bromocriptine. Mentally i have felt worse. i was on Cabergoline since Jan 1, then changed to Bromocriptine middle March. So 4 months combiation both. Anybody have the coping issues? How long mental issues might last and if they had to use a mood stabilizor medicine.. A major side note I have Cushing’s with adrenal removed so low cortisol now and steroids for over a year and hypothyroid. Hormonally a mess. Any advice.
