I have suffered from anxiety for a long time. Many in my family die as well. I have bad health anxiety as well.
Recently I had a few things that set me off into a complete panic attack that may have contributed how I’m feeling now.
I have been having random chest pains, that has ranged from sharp, burning, dull, heaviness and 24/7 fluttering.
Naturally I have been to my dr and local hospital several times in the last few weeks. They have done almost 10 EKG’s, blood tests, d- dymer test to check for clots, stress test, blood pressure tests and an overnite stay in hospital where I had a heart monitor hooked up all night. I also just had knee surgery where they had me under anesthesia a few days ago.
All of these tests have been normal. Stress test indicated no blockage, EKG’s showed no palpitations or fluttering. Plus no issues under anesthesia.
However I have 24/7 fluttering. I guess that’s the best way to describe it, itt feels like constant buttflies in my chest on left side. Then random burning or sharp pains.
I don’t know how it could be my heart with all these tests, yet I still feel it is. The constant fluttering doesn’t let me relax or sleep.
I feel like I’m going crazy. Has anxiety just taken over my body for good or is this still possibly a heart issue. I just want some normalcy again in my life,
Any advice would really help me. I’m afraid it will eventually effect me when I go back to work after my knee surgery.
Definitely sounds like anxiety to me, if you have done tests and they all came back normal. I have dealt with anxiety for almost 10 years now (I'm 28) and I can tell you from experience you can get soooo many different physical symptoms from anxiety, it's crazy.
I myself have already had the heart issues scare and chest pains issue with anxiety. It lasted about 3 months, some of the chest pains I would get would make it even hard to laugh bc it hurt so much. I had EKG done also and they told me I was totally fine. Eventually as I calmed down and the anxiety passed I stopped getting them. But then the next time I had bad anxiety a few months later it was a whole new group of symptoms dealing with muscle tension. I had horrible neck/muscle tension, headaches, tight throat, and a lump in throat feeling. This lasted about 2 months and then again - as my anxiety subsided the symptoms went away.
It really is amazing what your mind can do to your body. Something to keep in mind - my friend is an EMT and she told me you wouldn't believe the amount of heart attack 911 calls that end up being just a panic/anxiety attacks. So that tells you have severe the symptoms of anxiety can be sometimes.
Thanks for responding.... it’s just hard to even sleep. I had Ativan I was prescribed and took one last night. My body was tired and finally let me fall asleep, however the anxiety in my body kept waking me up with fluttering and chest anxiety. It’s like my body is in 24/7 fight or flight mode and can’t come down. I just want to relax but I can’t . Then that causes more anxiety
