Need your help again, ladies.

Well about five months ago i had a polyp removed from my uterus and a merina coil fitted under general anaesthetic abd on and off for some weeks i bled, it stopped after a while..... But this why i need your help ten minutes ago i noticed i was bleeding after about three months......do any of you know if this happens as i have never used contraception so i dont kniw if this is something to worry about. I am a sufferer of health anxiety and when i say a sufferer i mean it so i always jump to the worst scenario......so i need one of you lovely ladies to put my mind at ease, well as much as it can be put at ease. Thank you in advance........Heather x

Oh just in case you are wondering i am 56 and been post menopausal for four years plus. Want to kniw if anyone has had the coil fitted post menopausal and if this is normal. Thanks again Heather x

hi Heather I hope ur ok lovely!? ive just sent you a private message to try to reassure you hopefully. take care Ok? hugs LOU

hi Heather. i am 57 and also 4 years post menopausal. i had a mirena coil fitted in august because i had started having some bleeding. i had an ultrasound scan and a vaginal scan and i had endometrial hyperplasia . i then had a biopsy which thankfully came back non cancerous but the gynae suggested having the mirena coil fitted as i was producing too much orstragen so needed to balance it out to thin the lining. after having the coil fittred i bled for nearly a month. i did phone my gynae as it worried me but she said it was to be expected and could take up to 6 months to settle. you say you had a polyp removed but didnt say the reason you had the coil fitted? if it was for a similar reason to me, im sure you have nothing to worry about. Hope things settle for you soon x

Hi Heather - I'm glad you posted this as I too was wondering about getting Mirena. I'm 54 and thought I was too old. Younger ladies with bleeding problems, I recommend it. My doctor and good friend got theirs in their late 40s early 50s and cruised to menopause.None of the worrisome bleeding, erratic ovulation etc.My doctor suggested it when I was in my late 40s but I was too much of a wimp. Many people I consulted with had months of spotting with theirs but then it resolved.

Does anyone know what hormonal imbalance causes spotting? I remember starting the pill and experiencing the same breakthrough bleeding issue.I suspect this is what causes our peri-menopausal bleeding issues.

My previous post menopausal bleeding was caused by a polyp on my uterus which was removed when i had the merina coil fitted under general anaesthetic. I was told that the coil would keep the lining of my womb thinner , i had some bleeding for a few weeks after the operation but they said ut was normal ( i have not bled since the other day) and not to worry but it is weeks after my last bleed. Thanks for your reply i only wish the surgeon had had the respect for me to let me know what to expect after the procedu and again many thanks.... Heather
