Disfotopsia negativa após implante de lente multifocal

I had refractive lens exchange with implantation of multifocal lenses in March 2022 due to my eyesight deteriorating and me not wanting to costantly wear and rely on glasses. Three years on I am suffering quite badly with them. I was diagnosed with negative dysphotopsia which is where you have a dark shadow and for me also a pulling sensation around the lens which gets worse during how light or dark a room is, always worse in the winter when theres not much sunshine. I also have bilateral temporal symtoms where my eyes feel gritty and sometimes a smudge like feeling appears on the left eye, they are also constantly sore and watery especially first thing in the morning. The only thing I have found that helps is wearing framed glasses, clear lens which helps take the glare off, which completely defeats the purpose of me having the operation in the first place. I also can no longer drive my car like I used to as the close up vision is quite blurred so makes driving quite scary. I was told by the consultant not to have the lenses out and replaced with a single lens because the trauma to the eye will be increased therefore making the bilatoral temportal symptoms worse. I am posting just to see if anyone else is suffering in the same way as some days it drives me mad and feel very down so therefore I am at a bit of a loss as what to do, hoping someone might know of any new treatments etc.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing negative dysphotopsia. I just did a Google search and found 3 videos from Dr. Shannon Wong in the US on the topic of negative dysphotopsia, which might be of interest. Best wishes going forward.

Thank you for your reply, I did go for a second opinion to Moorfields Eye Hospital London a couple of years ago but unfortunately was told theres nothing that can be done. I will give your suggestion of Dr Wong a look, thanks for looking you’re very kind.
