New Hot off the Press Article on Synergy

Just saw this new article dated today. It looks like Synergy is now available to be implanted in the US at least to a few Opthmalogist. Search for: US Eye Practices First in United States to Utilize New TECNIS Synergy™ Lens Technology for Cataract Surgery

deadly.

I immediately emailed them as soon as I saw that article. The doctor was really nice, but then his response was:

" I implanted the first Synergy post FDA approval in the US this morning so I have no personal experience. "

Man it is hard to find anyone that has experienced real world results with this IOL.

What are the benefits over the Symfony?

Superior Close vision, but I would imagine comes with slightly more Dysphtopsias than Symfony.

I would also consider the Symfony Plus, but easier to find big foot than get any information on that IOL.

What?! Just found this forum and am a bit freaked out. I have cataracts and met with surgeon and when I said I wanted multifocal lenses there was NO hesitation. He said, “You’re a great candidate for Synergy.” I said, fine. I knew it was a new type of lenses, but never thought to ask if he’d used it before. Not sure I want to be a guinea pig. At the very least, I’ll be calling surgeon to get more info.

If you live in the US, it just became available, so unless you find one of the rare US Clinical trial doctors you will be the guinea pig. But keep in mind this is similiar to the Symphony, so not like a revolutionary different IOL.

Also someone has to be first. How about if Columbus had that attitude. LAL!
