Hi, I've just started taking mirt - first tab last night. I'm feeling crap - like I have flu and pissed at the same time. Having read some of the experiences on here I'm tempted not to take any more.
Can anyone offer me a more positive view of this drug? Does anyone feel better on it and not have horrible side effects?
Hi Gypsy how much mirtazapine are you taking? The first few weeks are likely to be difficult in terms of side effects. For me I had an overwhelming sense of tiredness that continued throughout the day. You might experience some side effects or hardly any at all. If you are working can you plan to have a few days off whilst you are getting used to the drug? The bonus was that I began to sleep better, my mood improved and the paranoia and suicidal thoughts lifted. I'm not going to list all the possible side effects here but most people have benefitted from taking mirtazapine even if it is only for a short time.
i was prescribed mitazapine last week, i was taking citalopram before but wasnt helping much so now on 15mg of mitazapine, im really scared to take my first tablet, after reading all the stuff im so scared what to do, i had awful side effects from citalopram.
I was on mirtazapine for 11 months and I put on weight (loads) but other than that I had no bad side effects. After a while it stopped working for me because I no longer needed ADs so I stopped taking it (this was about 3 years ago). Depression has come back but doctor has put me on citalopram I'm only on my first day. If you notice yourself eating more on the mirtazapine then I would go to the doctor and get some advice about eating because other than weight gain this medication was great not only did it help with my depression but it also helped with my insomnia too. Also after only taking it a few days I noticed a definite upturn in my mood and gradually I was back to my version of normal. So... other than the weight gain my experience with mirtazapine was good. I hope this helps and I hop eyou feel better soon
