I have been suffering the symptoms of Menière for a few weeks in a row, without imrpovement (even with diruetics, low salt diet, no caffeine, etc.).
Being completely depressed about my situation, I started to try to find natural alternatives. I read on several pages that people affected by MD could have a deficiency in B vitamines, specially B3 or niacin. The B3 vitamin helps the blood to circulate, clearly an important part of my problem (I feel that a part of my head is completely numb and as if it was sleeping form a lack of blood circulation on the side of the affected ear).
Since I have started takng it, my symptoms have decreased dramatically: I have some headaches but my vertigo is almsot gone. The first day, I took it, I felt an importan pressure in my head, I felt the blood flushing next to the affected ear. I had a few hot flushes too. But so far, I am extremely satisfied.
I wanted to know if anybody has experienced the same thing and wanted to share it with you, if it could also help some of you to alleviate your symptoms.
hI Tagada, thanks for that, definitly worth trying, do you know how or if its possible to get an anylasis or diagnosis on your vitamin count, like a blood sample ?

Yes, I could try. It is a good idea. But I guess I am not the only one who can be helped by niacin.
I still have some MD sympoms though, like tinnitus, slight vertigo and headaches, but it is much more bearable. I can live more or elss normally at least and it feels wonderful ;-)
I have been taking B Complex vitamins for some months. I still had a dreadful spell of vertigo recently when I moved house. Guess it was stress related.
It good that you are managing menieres, it is a really horrible and debilitating occurrence. I am in my 50s and was diagnosed with menieres last year having had bppv a few times over the years. I have found a strict routine of vestibular rehab, meditation/yoga and other exercises which relax my neck and shoulder, very helpful. Anything that can destress seems to work for me. The vestibular rehab exercises were tricky to begin with but were worth it. I had to start doing what i could, I dont often feel dizzy but if I do I hit the vestibular and deep breathing exercise button. The specialist prescribed betahistine last November which I take.
Incidentally I recently went on hols for two weeks where it was very hot I was terrified at the thought and got myself so stressed beforehand. However I didnt want to be trapped by this so I got myself some sunglasses, a peak cap, some cool pacs, some cds and made sure I stayed out of the sunlight. I am back and pleased to say I did not have an occurrence.
