I was hypothyroid. I took the radioactive iodine. I have not had thyroid for 12 yrs. I am so fatigued and extreme brain fog. I have had several doctors over the 12 yrs. and none can get my thyroid levels normal. blood work is always to low or too high. I have no thyroid why can't drs. regulate thyroid. I am almost homebound. I am 51 now. been like this since age 39. I am like a sickly 80 year old. please help! I was very active, ran almost every morning. very good health and active.
Hi I had a thyroidectomy fir graves 7 years ago I'm dogged by lot if symptoms, I've just took matters into my oown hands and had a full set if bloods done privately to see what is really going on! I totally sympathise with you x
Blood tests are not relevant, especially the notorious TSH!!
I once asked my endo why I would need my dead and gone thyroid stimulated and he tried to discharge me!!
If you are on levothyroxine you might need additional T3 as levo is T4 only and most people don't get any better whilst taking it - although I have heard people tell me in one breath how marvelous their doctor is, only to go on about the symptoms they still have!! I feel very strongly that doctors only parrot what the BTA and RCP say and never realise how damaging (or they simply don't care!!) their lack of care is.
thank you for replying, I have even been to mayo where they told me I had depression even though my thyroid levels were abnormal. so I tried 3 different psych. only to have severe side affects from anti-depressants. I don't know what to do or who to see. you would think mayo would do more then blood work
