Hello I am new to this forum having just been diagnosed with osteoporosis I joined to maybe get a decision on whether I should take this drug I have
read negative remarks but wondoured if anybody had anything good to say about it My t score is _ 3.3 Only found out when I broke my wrist
Hi
I'm in the same boat as you......not long diagnosed and was put on alendronic acid. I read all the bad reports and it scared me. Each time I took it I was queasy all day.
I went back to the GP after a few months of taking it....she put me on another one, same results.....not sure how much of it is because I read all the negative reports
Anyway back again and she has now put me on one that I have to take once a month.....its the same family....but she says if it makes you feel queasy at least its only once a month not once a week
I know thats no help but I'm not sure either
Love

I have been taking Alendronic acid for a year now and have had no problems and my calcium and Vit D levels are almost normal so it does its job. I also had a bisulphate Infusion which also helped. I broke my back so had no choice about thinking whether pills were good or bad, sometimes we read too much. You just have to try and see how you get on. If pills make me better I'm all for them!!!!! Good luck.
Thank you Elaine That remark is reassuring I took my second
tablet no problem Still a bit uncomfortable after taking calceos
I think that is probably due to drinking all the water you have to take with them .You have made me feel more confident .
I wish you well A broken wrist is nothing compared to what you have suffered Take care

I have just started. The listed side effects are alarming. Still broken bones are very alarming and spinal compression very terrifying. So I took my first Alendronic Acid today. A little queazy but that cleared during breakfast of orange, porridge, toast with butter and marmalade, green tea.
No problem with Calcium and vit D ( are those Calceos?)
Yes, I am male. I have bone thinning per Dexa scan after 6 months hormone therapy. I need to learn about this new problem and the medication problems.
Up at 3am with runny tummy. Does this get worse or can I expect tummy to settle down?
No other changes happily.
And 9:30 worse runny tummy.
Hello Can't speak for everyone but I have had no problems with A A . Maybe coincidence with the first one you took so give it a
while .I don't feel so uncomfortable with the Calceos now either I
hope you feel better soon

I've been on Alendronic acid for about 8-10 weeks. No major side effects, thankfully, apart from nose bleeds 2 days after taking. First week I had several but by week 6 I only had one slight bleed and I'm pleased to say nothing since then.
Good to read that you are doing OK I hope it continues .
I have still not had any problems .I feel pity for those that have
Take care
