I've had this problem for about 5 years or more, i saw my doctor and she is baffled to what it is, i have a very uncomfortable sensation in my anal area not sure if it's coming from the opening or if it's further in anyhow, i had internal and external Hemorrhoids had a Colonoscopy and had them banned went through that hoping that was the problem but no the annoying irration is still there ice packs help sort term and now my doctor has given me a script for Herpes i haven't even been tested for Herpes and she wants me to see a gastroenterologist. I am at my wits end so feed up any help out there.
I would test for herpes before just randomly taking medication for it. Also, a gastroenterologist is completely unrelated to herpes, so it seems as though your doctor is just advising everything!
This sounds a lot like what I'm suffering from. Going on 3 weeks now. Have you had any luck finding out what it is/was?
