As the title says, I keep feeling this odd sensation in the top of my chest when laughing and sitting down, almost like I can't laugh properly. After I eat anything at all I feel bloated, mostly in the area just below my sternum and my anxiety goes up. I've noticed this for a month now and, while it hasn't gotten worse, it's freaking me out and triggering my health anxiety.
Well hopefully you did not google any of your symptoms as it will only trigger further anxiety. No you do not have coronary heart disease, esophageal cancer, etc. Most likely acid reflux that has started to act up, this is 99% what this sounds like. Make an appointment with your physician or ENT and get examined. I promise, it’s almost always just a small minor dysfunction such as reflux as I said earlier, have a good night and keep calm, you’re gonna be fine.
I would say your mostly getting anxious and worried with whats happening. If you can assure yourself its an anxiety condition then you can help yourself remain calm.
Maybevtry to eat a little less and see how that works. Also eat sometjing that isnt heavy.
I also suffer from anxiety, and I also am looking to seek help and understand that I have a condition
I literally experienced this today, and had to lie down - once I did, I started to feel better. I’ve had this before as well; and it used to freak me out! Where I live in Canada, we have a website that talks through lots of experiences like these - I’ll link it for you so you can have a peek - https://www.anxietybc.com/adults/health-anxiety
It doesn't sound like we reflux. I keep thinking I have an aortic aneurysm that's causing this, because what I'm feeling spreads to where the collarbones meet. I'm sick of this....feeling like I'm going to die...
If you feel you have an aortic aneurysm than you need to see a healthcare professional immediately. Aneurysm can be detected and will help ease your mind knowing you either caught it in time or it isn’t there at all. I still say acid reflux as it can irradiate up your sternum, around your esophagus and tranche all the way to your medial collar bone section up to your tonsils. Definitely see an ENT and rule it out. Most definitely though if you were going to die, or truly felt that way you should be in an ER not on here as we can’t ohysically attend to you. What is your water intake looking like daily?
During the week I go through about 3-4 bottles of water
Great to hear back from you EF4468, so only 3-4 water bottles every 7 days, or 3-4 gallons? If you’re only consuming 3-4 water bottles every week you’re falling dangerously short of your proper hydration requirements. You need roughly 3.7 liters a day, considering you’re a normal adult. Right now you’re at about 1.98 liters a week. That’s not good and can cause health issues. Try drinking a water bottle when you wake up, with breakfast, with lunch and with dinner at the least. I guarantee that given everything within your physical chemistry is normal, this will definitely help!!!
Hi Hsduk101, that was great advice! Easing up on heavy meals can reduce the oversecretion of biles and acids into the stomach, by keeping it light our body and stomach work much less harder to break it down. Those heavy meals can cause bloating, fatigue, a raise in body temperature etc. breaking down a big meal requires a lot of blood and work by the body. Sometimes a meal might be so big and filling that your brain requests the adrenal glands secrete norepinephrine into the blood to help the body kick up in gear and break down the meal, a theoretical overdrive. This in turn can cause anxiety and panic. Also, I’m curious as to what anxiety you specially suffer from, is it generalized? Agoraphobia? Panic attack disorder? Stay strong and Happy Monday!
I'm sorry, I meant to say 3-4 bottles daily. Zoned out a bit.
Now along with the bloating I'm feeling short of breath along with a choking sensation in my throat. It's either lasted for hours or for a few minutes. It started when the temperature dropped and my allergies are horrible now. I suspect leaky gut and allergies but I have no idea.
