Has anyone had the OSP for very large prostates? (not to be confused with the open radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer). This was the standard surgical procedure for removing most of the very large prostate before the robotic simple prostatectomy (RSP) became widely available.
My local urologist is offering me the OSP for my BPH. The RSP is not available to me locally and I cannot travel. He says the OSP involves more blood loss than the RSP and requires a week in the hospital and a longer recovery time than the RSP.
So I am wondering if anyone has had this procedure and can tell me about the recovery, side effects etc. It would be much appreciated. Thanks. Howard
