So I've recently found out that I have a very large dermoid cyst on/in my left ovary. I also was diagnosed with PCOS. In December I have to have open surgery (not keyhole) to remove the cyst, As well as the whole of my left ovary and left Fallopian tube and I'm 20 years old. My specialist has said that the recovery time is 4 weeks! I was then told that if I want to conceive I'll need to go on medication to release an egg. I have a few questions for anyone who has been in a similar boat I guess;
1. How long did it take you to recover?
2. Did you have weight gain/loss after surgery?
3. Were you able to conceive properly with only one ovary?
And any other information would be greatly appreciated!
Hola, tenía 23 años cuando me pasó esto por primera vez. Igual que tú, me extirparon todo el lado izquierdo del ovario.
1. ¿Cuánto tiempo te llevó recuperarte?
Me llevó 6 semanas recuperarme al 85%, mejoré con el tiempo. Intenta no hacer demasiado demasiado rápido (eso ralentizó mi recuperación)
2. ¿Tuviste aumento/pérdida de peso después de la cirugía?
Yo personalmente perdí 7 libras de golpe, y después me resultó más fácil perder peso por un tiempo
3. ¿Pudiste concebir correctamente con solo un ovario?
No he podido (encontré el mismo problema en el ovario derecho, pronto me operarán para extirparme el último ovario), pero una amiga que conocí en el hospital que tuvo lo mismo y solo un ovario, ahora está en su segundo bebé.
Me han dicho que aún podrás concebir con un ovario.

I am also getting my left ovary removed as i have 2 dermoid cysts the surgeon hasnt said to me yet wheather it will be keyhole or not
You said that you lost weight after your op..did you put abit of weight on with these cysts?..i have and am struggling to get it off my surgery is taking place in march.x

Sí, la última vez que gané unos 5 libras antes, esta vez he ganado 10 libras de la nada. Tratando de perder algo antes de la cirugía, que me dijeron que será dentro de 6 a 8 semanas, pero es muy difícil. Me han ofrecido metformina, lo que ayudaría, te aconsejo que preguntes por ello también.
