Ich hatte gestern eine Magen-Darm-Spiegelung mit Sedierung. Fühlte mich gestern pretty viel in Ordnung, abgesehen von einem leichten Brustschmerz beim tiefen Einatmen. Heute habe ich keinen Appetit und habe Schluckbeschwerden, sowie ein anhaltendes Unbehagen in der Brust. Warte auf den Rückruf des Arztes. In der Zwischenzeit lese ich über Perforationen und frage mich, ob das ernst klingt. Ich möchte nicht in die Notaufnahme gehen für noch mehr Tests, wenn das normal ist. Hat jemand Erfahrungen mit Schmerzen wie diesen nach einer Endoskopie? Vielen Dank.
Hi Penny, doesn't sound remotely like perforation to me. (I'm a former nurse btw.) Perforation would cause sudden unbearable pain, and you'd collapse in shock.
All kinds of reasons why this could be going on. I'd say you can afford to wait for your doctor to call back unless there's any serious deterioration.

i hope you've had the call and has put your mind at rest. It doesn't sound like a perforation I don't think. More likely the after effects from the scope the procedure itself, the air that is blown inside to aid viewing and maybe biopsies. It should settle over the next few days. It can be quite traumatic for some people and that obviously has an impact on how you feel afterwards. Rest and recover and hope all is well.

Mein Hals war zwei Tage nach meiner EGD sehr wund, das halte ich für normal, bin mir aber bei den Brustschmerzen nicht sicher. Wenn sie nicht verschwinden, würde ich Ihren Arzt anrufen.
Sorry to ask but I have same thing as you after endoscopy day before yesterday. Did your pain go or did you see your doctor or have to go to A & E. I'm really scared it's caused something and I don't know what it could be. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow though.
Hallo, es tut mir leid, dass du Schmerzen hast. Meine sind zum Glück weggegangen, sie sind langsam über den nächsten Tag oder so verschwunden, und seitdem ist alles normal. Ich habe den GI-Arzt angerufen und als er schließlich zurückgerufen hat, schien er nicht zu verstehen, welche Art von Schmerz ich meinte - aber er dachte nicht, dass es ernst klang und bis er zurückgerufen hat, denke ich, dass das Gefühl aufgehört hatte. Hi penny! i am hoping you will see this as i am having similar discomfort. I had an upper endoscopy, and right after i was fine and had a smoothie, however, i went and had lunch where i ate bread and i think that was a really bad idea...because from then on (its been 2 full days) i have had a strange discomfort in my chest behind my sternum, especially when i breathe in deeply. when i swallow i have the hardest time getting it down so i am discouraged to even eat. even swallowing water hurts...it feels almost as if I have taken a large pill and it is stuck (even though i havent). i cant tell if its gotten better since the procedure because i havent eaten much. is this similar to whar you felt?

Ich musste tatsächlich nochmal meinen ersten Beitrag lesen, weil ich langsam vergesse, wie es sich nach meiner Endoskopie genau angefühlt hat. Ich erinnere mich noch, dass es weh tat, wenn ich tief einatmete, und das allgemeine Unbehagen in meiner Brust danach, und es war sehr frustrierend, dass der Arzt und die Krankenschwester, mit denen ich gesprochen habe, so taten, als wäre es so ungewöhnlich, überhaupt Schmerzen danach zu spüren (während es scheint, dass viele Menschen danach Unbehagen verspüren). Das einzige Beruhigende, was ich gefunden habe (und das auch auf deine Situation zutreffen würde) ist, dass die Anzeichen für ein ernsthaftes Problem anscheinend viel schwerwiegender sind. Mein Unbehagen klärte sich innerhalb von ein paar Tagen. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass Schmerzen nach einer Endoskopie viel häufiger vorkommen, als Ärzte denken? Aber ich würde sagen, rufe auf jeden Fall deinen Arzt an, wenn du besorgt bist. Viel Glück und gute Besserung!
I had and an endoscopy done a couple months ago because I was getting food stuck when swallowing. Immediately after I had a very sore throat, difficulty swallowing, which was expected and chest discomfort. I had a few things going on, Including a Schatzki's Ring which he opened. It has been a couple months now and I still have chest discomfort. During my follow up, the doctor said what I am feeling has nothing to do with what he did, and to check with the cardiologist. I am under a cardiologist care now going through lots of tests, ruling out the heart and gallbladder.
Has anybody experience this chest discomfort this long after your endoscopy and what was the cause?
Thank you in advance for whatever experience and advice you could give me.

Ich hatte gestern eine obere Endoskopie mit einigen Biopsien. Ich fühle mich ähnlich wie Brustschmerzen/Verdauungsbeschwerden, wie du sie beschreibst. Es fühlt sich auch so an, als hätte ich etwas in meiner Brust stecken, wenn ich schlucke oder esse.
Ich brauche nur etwas Beruhigung, dass dies einfach Luft im Bauch oder in der Brust sein könnte? Oder ob jemand anderes etwas Licht darauf werfen kann.

Please tell me this for better for you. I just had my endoscopy yesterday and I'm having the exact symptoms. The doctor didn't seem concerned.
I'm so glad I found this discussion as I am having the same problem! Had an endoscopy 2 days ago where they took some biopsies and also the doc said he stretched the esophagus a little. (I was still groggy from the anesthesia and didn't ask him if it actually needed to be stretched!) Anyhow, I had an endoscopy 10 years ago with zero after effects. But this time when I eat anything, as it reaches the point around the sternum, it feels like glass is going down - just sore and irritated. I did call the doc who said "Gee, I never heard of that, doesn't sound serious." Sheesh! From reading this thread, sounds like some other people have had this same thing which helps put my mind at ease a little. The reason for the endoscopy was I was having mild swallowing problems, where food was getting stuck in my throat, but I could get it down with additional swallows or some liquid. Now it seems I've traded a mild problem for something worse! At least I didn't have any pain before.
Da andere diesen Beitrag immer noch lesen, werde ich kommentieren. Ich hatte vor 10 Jahren auch eine obere und untere GI-Untersuchung ohne Nebenwirkungen, außer etwas peinlichem Gas von der unteren und sehr leichten Halsschmerzen.
Vorgestern hatte ich ein Stück Schweinefleisch in meiner Speiseröhre stecken. Ich wartete etwa 16 Stunden, bis ich in die Notaufnahme ging, weil es ein Samstagabend war und ich nicht mit all den Verrückten dort hingehen wollte. Eigentlich hoffte ich, dass es von alleine vorbeigehen würde. Laut den GI-Aufnahmen war es etwa einen Zoll über meinem Magen blockiert, obwohl es sich aufgrund des Schmerzes und der kleinen Menge Wasser, die ich schlucken konnte, anfühlte, als wäre es direkt unter dem Adamsapfel. Die ersten 12 Stunden nach dem Eingriff sind ein kompletter Nebel. 24 Stunden später hatte ich kaum Halsschmerzen, aber ich hielt mich an Haferbrei, Graupenbrei usw. Jetzt, nach 48 Stunden, ist meine gesamte Speiseröhre so wund wie mein Hals nach einer Mahlzeit aus Kartoffel-Shepherd's Pie, die überhaupt nicht scharf war. Ich habe im Laufe der Jahre verstanden, dass Ärzte diese Beschwerde nicht oft hören, weil sie normalerweise am Empfang der Krankenschwestern gestoppt wird, weil sie NICHT "ernsthaft" ist. Aber das ist echte Schmerzen, und wenn ich keine Unannehmlichkeiten erwartet hätte, wäre ich besorgt. Ich frage mich, was der Unterschied zwischen vor 10 Jahren und vor zwei Tagen ist... Ist es der Arzt oder der Patient? War mein Hausarzt sanfter? Oder bin ich jetzt zerbrechlicher.
I just found this thread from a google search about pain after endoscopy! I had one about five years ago and don’t remember having any kind of discomfort afterwards. I just had another today and coming out of anesthesia I immediately told the nurse and then my doctor about pain in my chest - it feels kind of like heartburn except not as acidy, because I hadn’t eaten anything in 12 hours. She told me it might be reflux which was confusing, because I’ve never had reflux that comes on this long after eating and the pain came on following the procedure. she told me to go home and work on an anti-reflux diet. ??? I had some pasta, which I think helped a little, but the pain is still there. Like another said, it’s behind my sternum and this thread has calmed me out of thinking it was a serious complication and instead I’m hoping it’s just some air that got stuck.
Ist das für dich besser geworden? Ich hatte gestern eine Endoskopie, meine erste überhaupt, und sie haben nie etwas von Schmerzen erwähnt. Ich habe Schmerzen, wenn ich esse oder trinke, es ist erträglich, aber es ist nervig. Hoffentlich siehst du das. Ich mache mir jetzt wirklich Sorgen. Man sagt mir, dass es nichts gibt, worüber man sich Sorgen machen müsste, aber ich tue es, und vor allem, weil dies als Nebenwirkung vor oder nach dem Eingriff nicht besprochen wurde. Danke!
Hi Jessica! Yes it did. It resolved within a few days. Just drink lots of smoothies, broth, and water 
seriously I was so stressed about it and then I woke up a few days later and it was gone. Don’t be worried!!!

I had the endoscopy yesterday and biopsy as well, tissue were taken from three places. I was normal just after 30 minutes. But after 4-5 hours I started feeling little discomfort in my chest, feeling like someone put cold water in my chest (Food pipe). I called my Dr today, he said nothing happen after Endoscopy. Even I forgot to remind him that my endoscopy involved biopsy as well. Anyway.
I was little panicked having discomfort in my chest after endoscopy and added salt to it after talking to my doctor. Now after reading this discussion I am feeling comfortable though I am visiting my doctor today.
