Fiz uma EGD ontem com sedação. Ontem me senti bem, exceto por um pouco de desconforto no peito ao respirar fundo. Hoje não tenho apetite e sinto desconforto ao engolir, além de um desconforto persistente no peito. Estou esperando um retorno do médico. Enquanto isso, estou lendo sobre perfuração e me perguntando se isso parece sério. Não quero ir para o pronto-socorro para mais testes se isso for normal. Alguém tem alguma experiência com dor como essa após uma endoscopia? Muito obrigado.
Hi Penny, doesn't sound remotely like perforation to me. (I'm a former nurse btw.) Perforation would cause sudden unbearable pain, and you'd collapse in shock.
All kinds of reasons why this could be going on. I'd say you can afford to wait for your doctor to call back unless there's any serious deterioration.

i hope you've had the call and has put your mind at rest. It doesn't sound like a perforation I don't think. More likely the after effects from the scope the procedure itself, the air that is blown inside to aid viewing and maybe biopsies. It should settle over the next few days. It can be quite traumatic for some people and that obviously has an impact on how you feel afterwards. Rest and recover and hope all is well.

Minha garganta estava muito dolorida dois dias após minha EGD, então acho que isso é normal, mas não tenho certeza sobre a dor no peito. Se não passar, eu ligaria para o seu médico.
Sorry to ask but I have same thing as you after endoscopy day before yesterday. Did your pain go or did you see your doctor or have to go to A & E. I'm really scared it's caused something and I don't know what it could be. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow though.
Oi, sinto muito por você estar com dor. A minha felizmente passou, ela foi diminuindo lentamente ao longo do próximo dia ou algo assim, e tudo tem sido normal desde então. Eu liguei para o médico do aparelho digestivo e quando ele finalmente ligou de volta, ele não pareceu entender que tipo de dor eu estava falando - mas ele não achou que parecia algo sério e, na hora que ele ligou de volta, acho que a sensação tinha parado. Hi penny! i am hoping you will see this as i am having similar discomfort. I had an upper endoscopy, and right after i was fine and had a smoothie, however, i went and had lunch where i ate bread and i think that was a really bad idea...because from then on (its been 2 full days) i have had a strange discomfort in my chest behind my sternum, especially when i breathe in deeply. when i swallow i have the hardest time getting it down so i am discouraged to even eat. even swallowing water hurts...it feels almost as if I have taken a large pill and it is stuck (even though i havent). i cant tell if its gotten better since the procedure because i havent eaten much. is this similar to whar you felt?

Eu tive que voltar e reler minha postagem inicial porque estou começando a esquecer como exatamente me senti depois da minha endoscopia. Eu me lembro de como doeu quando respirei fundo, e o desconforto geral no peito depois, e foi muito frustrante que o médico e a enfermeira com quem falei agiram como se fosse tão incomum sentir qualquer dor depois (enquanto parece que muitas pessoas têm desconforto depois). A única coisa tranquilizadora que encontrei (e que pareceria se aplicar à sua situação também) é que os sinais de um problema sério são aparentemente muito mais graves. Meu desconforto melhorou em alguns dias. Tenho a impressão, lendo sobre isso, que a dor após a endoscopia é muito mais comum do que os médicos pensam? Mas eu diria para ligar definitivamente para o seu médico se você estiver preocupada. Boa sorte e espero que você se sinta melhor em breve!
I had and an endoscopy done a couple months ago because I was getting food stuck when swallowing. Immediately after I had a very sore throat, difficulty swallowing, which was expected and chest discomfort. I had a few things going on, Including a Schatzki's Ring which he opened. It has been a couple months now and I still have chest discomfort. During my follow up, the doctor said what I am feeling has nothing to do with what he did, and to check with the cardiologist. I am under a cardiologist care now going through lots of tests, ruling out the heart and gallbladder.
Has anybody experience this chest discomfort this long after your endoscopy and what was the cause?
Thank you in advance for whatever experience and advice you could give me.

Fiz uma endoscopia superior com algumas biópsias ontem. Estou me sentindo com sintomas semelhantes a dor no peito/ indigestão como o que você descreve. Também parece que tem algo preso no meu peito quando engulo ou como.
Só preciso de um pouco de tranquilidade para saber se isso pode ser apenas ar preso na barriga ou no peito? Ou se alguém mais pode esclarecer.

Please tell me this for better for you. I just had my endoscopy yesterday and I'm having the exact symptoms. The doctor didn't seem concerned.
I'm so glad I found this discussion as I am having the same problem! Had an endoscopy 2 days ago where they took some biopsies and also the doc said he stretched the esophagus a little. (I was still groggy from the anesthesia and didn't ask him if it actually needed to be stretched!) Anyhow, I had an endoscopy 10 years ago with zero after effects. But this time when I eat anything, as it reaches the point around the sternum, it feels like glass is going down - just sore and irritated. I did call the doc who said "Gee, I never heard of that, doesn't sound serious." Sheesh! From reading this thread, sounds like some other people have had this same thing which helps put my mind at ease a little. The reason for the endoscopy was I was having mild swallowing problems, where food was getting stuck in my throat, but I could get it down with additional swallows or some liquid. Now it seems I've traded a mild problem for something worse! At least I didn't have any pain before.
Como outras pessoas ainda estão lendo este post, vou comentar. Também tive uma endoscopia digestiva alta e baixa há 10 anos, sem efeitos colaterais, exceto um pouco de gases embaraçosos da parte inferior e uma leve dor de garganta.
Anteontem, tive um pedaço de porco preso no meu esôfago. Esperei cerca de 16 horas para ir ao pronto-socorro porque era uma noite de sábado e não queria ir com todos os malucos. Na verdade, eu esperava que passasse sozinho. De acordo com as imagens da endoscopia, ele estava parado a cerca de um polegada acima do meu estômago, embora, pela dor que eu sentia e pelo pouco de água que eu conseguia engolir, parecia estar bem abaixo da maçã de Adão. As primeiras 12 horas após o procedimento são um borrão completo. Mal tive dor de garganta 24 horas depois, mas mantive minha alimentação em mingau, creme de trigo, etc. Agora, a 48 horas, todo o meu esôfago está tão dolorido quanto minha garganta depois de comer um prato de purê de carne moída, nada apimentado. Ao longo dos anos, entendi que os médicos NÃO ouvem essa queixa com frequência porque geralmente é parada na recepção porque NÃO é "grave". Mas essa é uma dor genuína, e se eu não esperasse desconforto, ficaria preocupado. Me pergunto qual é a diferença entre há 10 anos e há dois dias... É o médico ou o paciente? Meu médico regular era mais gentil? Ou agora sou mais frágil?
I just found this thread from a google search about pain after endoscopy! I had one about five years ago and don’t remember having any kind of discomfort afterwards. I just had another today and coming out of anesthesia I immediately told the nurse and then my doctor about pain in my chest - it feels kind of like heartburn except not as acidy, because I hadn’t eaten anything in 12 hours. She told me it might be reflux which was confusing, because I’ve never had reflux that comes on this long after eating and the pain came on following the procedure. she told me to go home and work on an anti-reflux diet. ??? I had some pasta, which I think helped a little, but the pain is still there. Like another said, it’s behind my sternum and this thread has calmed me out of thinking it was a serious complication and instead I’m hoping it’s just some air that got stuck.
Isso melhorou para você? Eu fiz uma endoscopia ontem, a minha primeira, e eles nunca mencionaram nada sobre dor. Estou sentindo dor sempre que como ou bebo, é suportável, mas é irritante. Espero que você veja isso. Estou realmente preocupada neste ponto. Estou sendo informada de que não há motivo para preocupação, mas estou, principalmente porque isso não foi discutido como um efeito colateral antes ou depois do procedimento. Obrigada!
Hi Jessica! Yes it did. It resolved within a few days. Just drink lots of smoothies, broth, and water 
seriously I was so stressed about it and then I woke up a few days later and it was gone. Don’t be worried!!!

I had the endoscopy yesterday and biopsy as well, tissue were taken from three places. I was normal just after 30 minutes. But after 4-5 hours I started feeling little discomfort in my chest, feeling like someone put cold water in my chest (Food pipe). I called my Dr today, he said nothing happen after Endoscopy. Even I forgot to remind him that my endoscopy involved biopsy as well. Anyway.
I was little panicked having discomfort in my chest after endoscopy and added salt to it after talking to my doctor. Now after reading this discussion I am feeling comfortable though I am visiting my doctor today.
