Pain and recovery after laproscopy

I had my pre_op appointment yesterday as I will be having a complex laproscopy to remove a complex cyst and endometriosis. What I found frustrating is my surgeon who is highly regarded said I will not be in much pain at all afterwards and I can be up and going well the following day. Hiw can I believe this or feel comforted when so many wonen have been through tge same surgery and they reported significant pain afterwards and definitely needed way more than 1 day to get back to normal daily routine. Is the specialist trying to comfort me by hiding the truth or is it because he is a male? I am actually not feeling comforted at all as now I will feel scared and very anxious if I do have pain after surgery and if I don't get up and going the following day.

Hi

It is 2 weeks off work-signed off-after this op, so maybe he means the pain you have now will be gone?

Thank you so much for replyingsmile I will be having my operation in 10 days but he told me that he belies there will hardly be any pain and that most patients will resume their nornal lives the following day which I am finding hard to believe.

I was in very little pain afterwards, the only feeling is discomfort and the odd twinge.

The discussions you have seen relate to some ladies who have discomfort from the air that is pumped inside to make it easier for the surgeon. I didn't have a problem with this.

you may feel the odd pulling feeling for a couple of weeks and feel more tired than usual, but it's an easy op to recover from.

P.S : I don't have any pain, symptoms ir disconfort now at all! The operation was deemed necessary as the complex cyst is 6.5 cm and cancee markers elevated. He was talking about pain after the operation as I was concerned about pain afterwards.

Thank you so much Laura! This is so comforting as honestly I thought being an operation and having things cut and abdominal wall etc then I will be in agony so then he was being honestsmile
