Hi jo jo. I was told not to do high inpact physical exercise for 12 months. It takes up to 12 months to heal inside. I've worked out on a stepping machine and had pains in my legs and really violent pains in my stomach so I have stopped using it for now. I had my total abdominal hysterectomy on the 19th May. May be you should leave it a little longer before running again. Try palates that suppose to be ok as a light exercise.
Hi Jo,
I had a TVH 20th July and started running on 19th October having run for a couple of months before the op. I don't get pain in my legs but I do get the odd pulling sensation and some back pain but I have been seeing a chiropractor for a year so not related. Best thing I did was get a gait analysis from a good sports shop and then bought good supportive trainers the pain I had before is much better. You may find the leg pain and op are not connected. But as Karen said you may just be pushing your body too much too quickly. By the way I was told I could start running at 3 months. Anna x
Hi Jo
I had a vaginal hysterectomy 12 months ago and started gentle running at about 12 weeks and was very quickly back to my normal regime and run up to 6 miles now at a time. If you had an an abdominal op I would imagine the recovery time is longer overall. I would be inclined to just give it more time. 4 months is a long time for your leg muscles to get weak and they need to build up strength again. Best wishes

Thanks for your replies can I ask are you all on hrt, just I said I didn't want it and wondered if that was a contributing factor.
Hi Jo
Just to say I;m 62 and not on HRT. I was on it a few years ago, but stopped about 5 years ago. I do believe it had any benefits (kept my skin very young looking!) but don'nt think it affected my leg muscles when running and I was on it all the time I ran. I've been a regular runner for 30 years.
Best wishes

Sorry what I meant was I'm not on hrt and wondered whether that might be a factor
Sorry I worded that badly. I've not suffered leg pain when running since I stopped taking HRT. Are you a very experienced runner? Maybe you are trying to do too much too soon. It might be worth talking to your doctor if it is giving you a lot of concern.
Best wishes
