Hice mi THR izquierda el 17 de junio, ¡hace dos semanas hoy! Mi cirujano me recetó Oxycodona para el dolor y me dio 200 comprimidos de 5 mg. He estado tomando una tableta cada 4-5 horas desde la cirugía. Mi plan era mantener ese régimen hasta que vea a mi cirujano el próximo jueves. Ayer almorcé con dos amigas que son enfermeras. Ambas pensaron que debería dejar la Oxycodona. Que es demasiado fuerte para tomarla por tanto tiempo. Tengo muy poco dolor, pero eso podría ser porque he estado tomando Oxy de manera regular, no esperando hasta que sintiera que lo necesitaba. El cirujano también me recetó Tramadol y dijo que cuando pensara que no necesitaba Oxycodona, podía empezar a tomar Tramadol. Supongo que, como me recetó 200 tabletas de Oxy, pensó que las tomaría por un tiempo considerable. Eso sería como 5 semanas al menos, creo. Me encantaría saber qué han hecho los demás en cuanto a medicamentos para el dolor y si tienen alguna opinión sobre si debo seguir con la Oxy o pasar al Tramadol. Gracias.

I had mine done June 14 I don't see the doctor until July 20. They gave me oxys and tramadol also. I did not take any of the oxys only in the hospital. The tramadol and meythacarbonal for mussel spasms are the only narcotics I took. Meythacarbonal 2- 500mgs every 6 hrs - tramadol 50mg 2- every 6hrs along with 1- aspirin twice a day for blood thinner and 2- 500 mg Tylenol every 6hrs and 1-500mg advil twice a day,andpantoprazole sodium -1 every day, and last class 2- twice a day for constipation. I am on day 17 now cut back slowly on tramadol done two days ago. Only thing I take is the Tylenol 3 times a day the aspirin the advil and the andpantoprazole for the stomach. I'm using no help in the house just a cane outside. Pt 2-3 times a week. I didn't like the oxys they gave me a headache. Listen to your body it will let you know when you've gone to far. PAC it with ice at night this helped me not only for swelling but pain also. Hope this helps everyone is different. Good luck Red

dont listen to anyone - just listen to your body. I'm a nurse and for 2 months before my surgery I was on oxycodone 10mg slow release twice adult. Post surgery I was on 20mg oxy slow release twice daily and 10mg oxy fast release as and when. I was on this for about 2 weeks then as pain improved I reduced my slow release and only took fast release rarely. After about week 4 I was just on normal codeine and paracetamol and now week 9 I rarely take anything.
just take it easy you will know when to reduce - I used to leave it longer and longer in mornings before I took anything.
Theres no doubt it's painful surgery and it's only you can decide your pain levels not anyone else

Me han dicho que no tome Tylenol cuando estoy tomando Tramadol porque ya contiene Tylenol, así que lo he dejado. Intentaré el Tramadol los próximos días y veré cómo me va. Me quitan los puntos la próxima semana, lo que podría ser doloroso. Supongo que intentaré pasar solo a Tylenol después de eso. just take analgesia when u think u need it. You can take 50-100mg tramadol up to four times a day. Take the tramadol with paracetamol too as will get better pain relief. The pain does get better and it's nice not to have that horrid arthritis pain. My pain is more muscle soreness now which is bareable most days and getting better the stronger I'm getting X
Hola, hace tres semanas me realizaron una ART bilateral. En el hospital tomé oxicodona, pero me enviaron a casa con tramadol y paracetamol cada 4 horas, sugiriéndome que los redujera cuando fuera posible.
Para ser honesta, el alivio del dolor es individual, ya que cada persona tiene niveles de dolor diferentes. Yo hablaría con su médico de cabecera o con la enfermera del consultorio, o llamaría a la sala donde estuvo después de la operación para pedir consejo.

Algunos de ustedes han mencionado el paracetamol y no me lo recetaron y no sé qué es. Lo buscaré en Google, pero no me lo recetaron. Estoy realmente y casi sin dolor desde el principio. Pero realmente no sé si era porque nada me dolía o porque la Oxycodona se estaba encargando de todo. Estoy totalmente de acuerdo en que cualquier dolor que pueda sentir es MUCHO mejor que el dolor artrítico antes de la cirugía. Era malo y estoy encantada de no tenerlo. Voy a intentar tomar solo Tramadol y ver cómo me va. Mientras caminaba arriba y abajo por mi pasillo (vivo en un edificio de condominios), una vecina que es enfermera salió y caminó conmigo. Dijo que podía tomar tanto Tramadol como Oxycodona. Por ejemplo, si el dolor es peor por la noche, tome un Oxy. Si el dolor es mínimo por la mañana, tome un Tram. Así que supongo que mezclar no es problema. Sea lo que sea que haga, parece que terminaré con 100 pastillas de Oxy al final de todo esto y debería considerar venderlas en la calle. ¡JAJA!
I agree with everyone who's been saying listen to your body. I was also prescribed Oxycodine liquid but nothing else. I have only been taking it at night and thought I'd stop doing that, well mainly to see if I could. So I did - and had the worst nights sleep since I was is hospital, I also felt awful the following day too.
So, my lesson from that experiment- nope I'm not ready to be without my pain meds - at least not yet anyway.

Are you in the USA? Paracetamol is called acetaminophen and the adult dose is 1g every 8 hours. In the uk it can be bought over the counter at stores. It works well with tramadol and other opioids analgesia as it is an analgesia in itself and also acts as a carrier drug in the body which helps analgesia effectiveness
I dentist didn't stop oxy on a nite til weeks 4 at least - couldn't sleep without it purely because the pain was at its worst on a nite - but it does get better - week 9 I don't need anything now on a night and can sleep in all positions - I just wake often tho because my muscle gets tight x

Just buy standard acetaminophen 500mg tablets - and take 2 ervry 8 hours with ur tramadol - you will get a good pain response (I'm also a nurse prescriber and prescribe medication in my line of work so it's the correct advice X )

10 days post operation. Taking the medication I was on before to control OA pain. Slow release Diclofenic twice a day. Was prescribed Paracetamol and Tramadol on discharge. Now taking paracetamol regularly and Tramadol once a day. Just in the afternoon when I have a bit of a dip in how I am feeling. Have some OA pain in the other hip and only pain I am getting is really localised over the site of the wound and a bit of muscle ache. I am taking it easy but doing exercises and have started walking about 1/4 mile with two sticks and a chaperone! The Tramadol seems quite strong to me.
Like everyone else I am trying to listen to my body. I have asked my GP to prescribe more Tramadol to take as and well when I think I need it. Probably more for reassurance than anything. It is tricky balancing pain meds with increasing activity and also healing.
From personal experience I think the Tramadol should be enough. Although we are all so different. With different pre op conditions to take into account.

Hi Leslie, just over 3 weeks post-op. Taking blood thinner for a month & have taken paracetamol & ibuprofen. I'm not taking anything now as I don't need it x

Y quería asegurarme de estar por delante del dolor. Así que hoy he cambiado a Tramadol y tomé uno cuando me desperté a las 5 am y luego otro a la 1 pm. Quizás tome otro antes de acostarme. Hi Leslie.I live in New Mexico which I know has 1 of the worst rates of deaths by drug overdose.Its really very sad.The bad thing for people who have very real pain is that the Doctors here are very conservative about pain medication.I was given 80 oxycodones for post op pain and instructed to take 1-2 every 4 hours for pain.I also had a script for Tramadol.I was taking 1 Oxy and 1 Tradol every 8 hours.My right nonsurgical hip is also bone on bone and has really been catching much more frequently since surgery.On week 3 my femur fractured And my pain level went right back up.I started to take the Oxys every 4 hours again.Then I went down to Vicodin.Now and I'm at week 7, with a fractured femur and a bone on bone right hip Im taking 1 hydrocodone and 1 Tramadol every. 8-9 hours.I am never pain free.I also do take Ibuprofin.I hear these folks talk about being pain free and just taking Tylenol and I am envious,So wish I was there.You might try spreading your Oxys out and çombining them with Tylenol or Ibuprofin.You might also ask the Doc about a mild muscle relaxer .I take Baclofin 2.5 mg occasionally when my muscles are really hurting.The thing about Oxys is that they are strong so you need to be ready to be able to replace them with something else that gives you pain relief.If you are in significant pain they are very appropriate.As your pain decreases try something less strong and you should be ok.Its really about what works for your body

Por mi parte, me quedé con mis medicamentos para el dolor durante dos semanas. También tomo Tramadol y aún así tenía dolor. Me recetaron Norco y tuve muchos problemas estomacales (estreñimiento) con él que me hacían miserable. Lo que hice fue saltarme una o dos dosis y simplemente tomé Tramadol en su lugar. También tomo Ibuprofeno 600 porque tengo OA por todas partes. Eso pareció funcionar muy bien para mí. Así que mi sugerencia sería simplemente probar tomar Tramadol en su lugar y ver cómo te va. Espero que te sientas mejor pronto....
