Palpitations because of perimenopause?

I have been having heart palpitations for the last three months. I have had every test known to mankind and the doctors cannot find out whats wrong with me. Could it be perimenopause? I have so many of them every day. I am so worried and feel that they will never go away. They are ruining my life.

yup!! been there… it is an absolute symptom of perimenopause. I have found that taking magnesium glycinate 400 mg per day is a tremendous help, along with Paxil to ease my anxiety due to thinking I’m going to die whenever these horrible symptoms pop up!

Hi Heather I am 11 years post meno now but will never forget thothose horrible palpitations …lije you I had all kinds of tests done on my heart and everything came back normal so I also found magnesium glycinate 400 mg per day and it made my palps go away to this day I still take the magnesium glycinate as it’s excellent for your heart …I don’t where you are in your meno journey but all this will subside eventually

thank you for your comments. i feel so alone and so anxiety induced. I have seen where some women get them during hot flashes but i get them so frequently. Doctors tell me its just anxiety but he palpitations are what cause my anxiety. i feel like i am dying. i was happy and healthy and then had the rug pulled up from under me suddenly with these palpitations. i am 39 years old and my testosterone levels are depleted but my fsh levels are low normal so doctors wont even consider me perimenopausal. if these ever go away i will never take it for granted again.

this is a new symptom for me too.. trying my best to meditate but nothing’s helping along with it my blood pressure has gone up. I was always on the lower side. been in this peri hole for the last 3 years. need help and reassurance too!!

have any of you noticed certain times you get the palpitations? mine seem to subside if i lay down (most of the time) when i move around or are sitting i get them the most.

if i am sitting for awhile and then stand up i instantly get a bunch

do you notice them after sitting and then standing? when do you get yours? and how frequent?

thank you for the words of encouragement. how often did you experience the palpitations? i have them quite frequently. first thing in the morning or after being seated awhile and then standing will prompt more of them

it’s usually when I wake up in the morning.. the first one woke me up from my sleep, but these past two days it just happens randomly. I’ve been trying to relax and breathe but not much help. checked my pressure and it shows high. just feeling helpless. in addition. to that have been having this internal shaking. just can’t seem to shake it off. feeling miserable.

Hi Heather this was the first sign i was in peri menopause the heart palpations, just started from nowhere use to scare the life out of me as thought i was dying happened more at night and woke me from my sleep , i was tested like you for everything and best to be tested just ti be safe … i started soaking in epsom salts which is magnesium . CBD oil and drank camomile tea … and joined this group

take care

OMG! I woke up with chest pains this morning and was going to write your post.

I also woke up with my period.

I am so glad to hear that palpitations and pain are just one item on the seemingly endless list of symptoms.

Thanks for keeping me sane, Ladies!

how often do you have palpitations?

it felt like i got them all the time some days were really bad i thought i was going to die …i got them quite frequently when i first opened my eyes in the morning but quite frequently throughout the day i thought i had heart issues for sure

how long did the magnesium and anxiety med take to start working?

you can get this from orthostatic hypotension. It’s a dramatic shift in blood pressure going from sitting to standing. Sometimes the dramatic shift in blood pressure can cause palpitations. some people have this naturally and some people have it when they get dehydrated or from certain medications etc. have the doctor take your blood pressure sitting down and then while the cuff is still on your arm stand up and they take it again. It’s very obvious. its not life threatening but ask your doc about it.

my magnesium levels are always normal. were yours? thank you for any info you can give me. I’m lying in the ER and once again they cant find anything wrong with me. cant stop crying. feel so helpless. i have them all the time now.

Hi, I have palpitations on a daily basis, last night I woke up at 2am my heart rate was 120bpm it took about 10 mins to come down, Im used to them now but still get a bit scared they are not going to stop. My worst time is if I feel them in my neck, I hate that sometimes you can see the veins in my neck moving, so scary. I am trying to drink more water and taking starflower oil to see if they will improve. I have had lots of tests and been to a&e many times in fear that I am having a heart attack but nothing was found. I dont drink coffee anymore and limit alcohol which both make them worse. I pray they will disappear soon and I can feel normal again x

do you suffer from high bp?

i have been tested for pots and do not have it. i cant even roll over in the morning without feeling the blood flow and flutter. so hopeless
