Hi
I've just increased my Paxil 10mg to 20mg after 3 months and first it felt a relief then its giving heavy head, nausea, when talk head hurts , tightness in throat , strange symptoms will they vanish and how much weeks they are gonna take I m supposed to upped 20mg 3 months ago but I did yesterday!!! I'm 22 any advice ....
It's important to increase your dosage only on advice of your doctor, but it sounds like that is the case here.
The symptoms you are describing are common side effects with Paxil. I have been on 20 mg/day of Paxil for over 25 years-since I was diagnosed with clinical depression at 38.
My physician has advised me that during times of unusual stress when I am really feeling the anxiety and depression, I may want to increase my dose to 40 mg. Which I do on those occasions. The heavy head and other symptoms are typical when I do that.
I wouldn't be too concerned. 10 mg is a light dose and is typically used to help the patient get used to the drug, before increasing it. 20 mg is a common dosage for mild depression and anxiety. Give it a few weeks and the side effects should dissipate.
You experiencing any of the other side effects of first time users of Paxil? Colorful dreams? Delayed ejaculation during sex? (I had both of these and they do dissipate in time)
No but its hard staying on 20mg dear I m thinking going back to 10mg what should I do?
No I hadn't had colourful dreams..
About libido its killed
How many weeks side effects will vanish first I remember it took 2 weeks and I got back to normal after first time taking paxil
Side effects normally dissipate in a few weeks to a month.
When I first started taking Paxil my libido wasn't 'killed'. I still had the same drive and interest in sex, but it took me forever to climax. Twice as long as before the taking Paxil. That wasn't all bad, I think my wife liked it! I've read that it's a common side effect when you're first taking Paxil.
I'd give the 20 mg a few weeks, but that's up to you. If you're getting the desired effect from 10 mg than go with that. The less you take the better, because Paxil is rough coming off of. You're body gets used to it and you need to come off it in small steps. I have never come off it because it is dealing with a chronic condition of Depression. Every time I tried to reduce over the years I started feeling depression come on after a few days.
