Pedal exerciser

Has anyone used a stationary pedal exerciser, I can't afford a stationary bicycle but this is something I can afford. Just wondering I've read a few articles saying they are a good way to get a low impact workout for hip replacement rehabilitation

Hi, not sure wot you mean but - I certainly, at the magic six weeks next Saturday, plan to go gym to the stationary exercise bike, which I enjoy!

I also plan to do treadmill, but WALKING, and plan to run on it maybe in a months time, eg at 10 weeks.

Fingers vcrossed for both of us and recovery!

The best way I can describe a pedal exerciser is it looks like a small stand with bicycle pedals on it, no seat or handlebars just the pedal portion. I've seen them online and they are relatively inexpensive.

From your description, I find it hard to imagine really being able to use a 'pedal exerciser' for very long, or even at all ~ how does one keep one's balance with no seat or handlebars?

It may be perfectly OK, but I'd advise trying to find online reports of their use, & how easy/effective they are (I say all this because I myself have once or twice be a victim of wasting my ££ on something that sounded quite magic in the advert!!).

Cheers.

You don't stand up on it, you sit on a chair and use it.  It does exercise the legs and is specially for people who are disabled or just want to watch tv and exercise at the same time.

You don't sit on it, it sits on the floor. you sit in a chair and pit you feet on the pedals and pedal like a regular stationary bike if I could post a photo I would but you can Google pedal exerciser to see what it looks like

Hi it all depends on how your feeling I guess!! But am looking into having hydrotherapy! As I love water!I might have to have my knee done on the same side as my hip!then wait till my other hip and knee are done! So totally bionic!! Regards Amanda
