Perimenopause - digestive symptoms and feeling faint

Hi,

I have been creeping into perimenopause step by step. I am 47 and still having regular periods. I have been having increasing difficulties with digestion. I also have a longstanding condition where I can’t burp (yes it’s a thing)

I notice that I am increasingly becoming bloated which is more than usual (due to trouble with not burping) It got so bad the other week that I was out having a lovely 3 course meal, felt so bloated I then fainted! I think pressure through bloating can cause issues with your blood pressure when eating large meals. It was a horrible experience. I think the 2 things are related but ever since and now a few days before my period I feel so uncomfortable and bloated on and off and indigestion.

I know digestive issues are a thing in perimenopause but I was wondering if someone else is feels lightheaded more and if you’ve found any magic potions other than the obvious to help with bloating. I have started keeping a diary of what I eat to make links.

I also over think so even though a lot of these symptoms have been normal for me, they now feel a lot worse and I have immediately thought of more serious causes.

Hormones have a lot to answer for!

Thanks.

Hi Gemma,

Are you feeling better or the same?

Since perimenopause began, my hormone journey has been a rollercoaster. I had blood tests that showed I was deficient in certain vitamins. Lack of sleep and not drinking enough water can also make me feel off-balance. I’m taking probiotics and eating smaller meals to help with my digestive issues. Trigger foods can increase bloating, and hormonal changes do affect the gut. I’ve also experienced a lot of symptoms on this journey.

Hope you feel better soon.
