I am a 51-year-old female and the last couple of years my periods have been a regular which I know was a sign of perimenopause or menopause and the last year I’ve maybe had one. And everything else what little there is a spotty and that’s only been a couple times this year since last spring. I’m trying to figure out if I’m actually in menopause now or still in Perimenopause and I’m having major hot flashes any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated
Good morning Kerri,
You will not be considered to be in menopause until you have no periods and no spotting for a year. I am in the same boat, 51, spotting, a random period, hot flashes from hell among a plethora of other nasty symptoms. I was told by my gyn that I could do hormone replacement therapy, but there’s a big draw back, they say once you stop taking them, you basically start all over. No thanks, I would much rather just keep going and hope that these symptoms just finally go away soon! Good luck on this crazy roller coaster of a journey! God bless!
I’m 51 and have all that in spades! Plus I’m smothering. I feel like someone has wrapped me in plastic wrap and put me in a microwave to steam. I keep two fans on me at work and I keep the ceiling fan on in the family/living room and I drink between 90-120 ounces of water a day and still am thirsty. But dealing with perimenopause, hypothyroidism and low vitamin d levels and type 2 diabetes has me exhausted all the time AND to top it all off my/our son (our only child) is deployed as a captain in the Army for the 3rd yr in a row and in 3 1/2 yrs we’ve seen him a total of 6 hours. It’s enough to make a grown woman sit down and bawl. As a Christian I’m not usually overwhelmed and turn it all over To God but if I’m completley honest, as much as I try to turn it over I unwittingly pick it all back up again and I seem angry and disgusted at everything so prayers would be excepted if that’s something you believe in and for me it’s a HUGE part of who i am
