Peroneus longus tendon

HI 

Has anyone had surgery for peroneus longus tendon.  I supposedly tore this tendon awhile back.  I am just getting over RTHR and will be going for the ankle surgery August 1st.  I have the same surgeon that replaced my hip doing this surgery.  

Just wanted to get anyone's input that went through this surgery.

Hi Barbara,

I've gone through a ligament and tendon repair on my right ankle 7 and 5 years ago respectively. Currently I'm 5 weeks into recovery of analogous procedures on my left ankle. I would love to answer any questions you might have.

Surgery itself is performed under general anesthesia usually. Although if you get the option of a nerve block and be put to sleep (no general), I highly recommend it. There's risk with the nerve block and it's not pleasant but not feeling the worst of the pain for 24hours is very good.

Usually you'll spend 4-6 weeks NWB in various casts. Currently I'm at the next stage where I can bear weight in my aircast/walking brace

Thank you so much for answering me. I am due to have my op on Aug 1st. I had hip replacement on the 30th of May so my surgeon couldn't do my ankle until August. From what he tells me I will have the ankle operated on be in a sheath for 10 days and be in a boot for a month. What can I say when I do things I do them right. With the hip I hardly had any pain whatsoever. Not saying this will be the same. But I just want to stop limping. Would love to keep in touch with you during this. May I ask are you in the states or the UK. I am in the states.
